Default Movies That Have Not Aged Well?

Which movies have not aged well? And by this I don't necessarily mean due to fashions of the time, or poor quality film making etc, but more so to do with they haven't stood the test of time too well, in terms of narrative, acting, plots or just crap to look at now.

I'll start...

Pulp Fiction

Truly dire borefest of totally ridiculous stories (or should that be non-stories) ever assembled.

If anyone can actually answer what the hell this movie is about I'll give that person a gold star!

Same for most of Tarantino's movies, really overrated self important garbage, except Jackie Brown, which in my opinion is his best movie!

I am prepared for that. It's a crap movie and definitely deserved to lose to Forrest Gump, for once the Academy got it right.

Really overrated garbage, probably the most overrated movie ever made!

Crap movie?
Really overrated garbage?
Most overrated movie ever made?

You don't have to like it... but spewing that shit over a masterpiece of filmmaking that somewhat changed movies for years to come, is a joke and completely over-the-top. I will never take anything you say in this forum seriously again.

Just as soon as you specify what about it hasn't "aged well".

Why didn't you just make this an "I Hate Tarantino" forum because you completely jumped off your own topic and never recovered.

First few things that come to mind...
  • Henry and the Hendersons--the last half is just way too sappy.
  • Short Circuit--Johnny 5 is annoying and too much of the film is cartoony and obnoxious. Fine kid's movie, but aggravating for adults.
  • The Wizard--never had the pleasure of seeing this as a kid, so I couldn't even connect to the story at all. Nintento stuff is cool and all, but without nostalgia the movie bored me.

I always took it as a study on the hellish nature of the criminal underworld, and each story demonstrates how specific characters manage to escape it through specific means.

I've grown to appreciate Pulp Fiction over time, but on the first watch I found confounding and weird. I don't blame anybody for disliking it.

The Wizard is great for nostalgic purpose, but otherwise a mediocre film to those who didn't grow up watching it. I love watching again and again.

The new HD Remaster is a beauty!

Why do "adults" always demand that children's movies serve them better? Short Circuit is aimed at younger people - not 40 year-old neckbeards that can't move on from their childhood obsessions. I see this nonsense all the time, like idiots wanting more "adult" themed Transformers cartoons/movies.

Watched my Short Circuit Blu a few weeks ago (it'd been unopened on my shelf for years). Hadn't seen it since the theater. I had a great time with it, and I'm definitely no kid. It also reignited my decades old crush on Ally Sheedy.

Odd that someone would blame a movie for not "aging well" when they're the one who isn't "aging well", as they're rapidly losing their ability to have fun with an '80s family film.

I've given my eighteen-month-old post some more thought. You both made me realize the extent of my ignorance and I now see that my post was inappropriate. It was meant to express an opinion, but I don't know why I chose to blame a film for my own lack of understanding or appreciation, and there is no excuse. I apologize for showing such disrespect to the film and its fans, and I apologize for offending you.

Thank you for shedding light on this. It seems that I have indeed aged poorly, and I intend to find some way to address it.

I lashed out as a cautionary gesture: If you voice negative opinions about Short Circuit in public, you'll likely be attacked. The world is cruel and unforgiving when you're not a Johnny 5 fan.

This, me and my best friend used to love SC 1 and 2, but I watched 1 recently and yikes! Yeah it's aged pretty badly

You missed a point, a well made kids movie from the 80's should still stand up to the test of time, The Monster Squad, Goonies and countless others are still fantastic. (and I would argue TMS has actually got better as i now appreciate the homages to classic monster villains from the 30's and 40's)

Oh gosh Harry and the Hendersons such an awful kids movie and the person wearing the Bigfoot is just creepy in fact the Bigfoot character in that movie still terrifies me as an adult. Short Circuit movies are so terrible not some of my favorite 80’s movies also yeah Johnny 5 is very very annoying I did not find either of these films funny let alone good. Agree with you on both of these films

I do love Jackie Brown but to say Pulp Fiction hasn't aged well is nonsense! You might not like the film but it has decent to very good acting (Jackson, Travolta, Willis, Walken, Roth, Keitel, Thurman) and cinematography, sets, costume design that still hold up very well when watched in 2020. It deserves a 4k blu ray release!

Honestly I was never as big a fan of Jackie Brown, to me it feels like Tarantino trying to make a "serious" film and losing a lot of his personality in doing so.
