Coming 23 Nov. 2020

More to be revealed but for now all you need to know is this will be the Ultimate Edition of the only official sequel to Bruce Lee's Classic Fist of Fury. Featuring a brand New 2K scan of both short and long versions (Original 1976 Mandarin release and the 1980 Cantonese release) [40 mins difference] with new art from Kung Fu Bob and all new bonus features.

Oh look, another one I've been working on Funny enough, I first knew the uncut version had been restored via the Scandinavian Jackie Chan box set, but I was surprised that we got both cuts restored in HD. Granted, the only difference footage-wise (aside from the near 40 min cut) is the alternate placement of the opening credits, as the 1980 Cantonese cut opens with Jackie's first scene, completely cutting out the "bridging" scene with Lo Wei in his cameo returning as the inspector from the first Fist of Fury.

The old Eastern Heroes DVD was a 105min edit which had the original opening titles but was missing several scenes, including all of Lo Wei's cameo!

That DVD is interesting as it has the original English export trailer. When you compare that to the Cantonese trailer Fortune Star has, you'll note the latter crudely cut out the Bruce Lee stills!

The film also features some of my favourite Tangerine Dream music, "Rubycon".

Has anyone ever tracked down Cheng Siu-Siu, who plays the villain's daughter? This appears to be her only credit.

Indeed. But ironically it feels a lot less like Fist of Fury than the unoffical sequel, Fist of Fury Part II (also made in Taiwan in 1976) does!

Isn't this the guy whose mom was a big name something-or-other in the cinema scene and that's about the only reason he got acting gigs?

I have no idea! Sammo's grandma was a big star at one point...
