Other than Cyberpunk & Spider-Man, I don’t see many new games of interest during PS5’s launch holiday.

I may get those PS5 digital versions of dem Ubisoft titles to keep me entertained. lol

Thinking it through, it'd be nice to be able to have a game for $10 less on release date, playable on both the PS4 and PS5 either way (for a direct comparison too), with the pS4 version, and to upgrade to see what the PS5 versions look like for:

Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 Disc - Nov 19, 2020 (includes free PS5 upgrade) $49.99
WatchDogs Legion PS4 Disc - Oct 29, 2020 (includes free PS5 upgrade)
$49.99

The biggest pain will be downloading the likely 60+ GB files for each PS5 game to the PS5. Each one will take a few hours likely, but no big deal. The plus is, if the PS5 ever lost all the data for the PS5 versions far in the future, I'd still have the PS4 disc versions playable on it.

I wonder if you can play the PS4 version and PS5 version of the same game on the PS5, or if it doesn't give you a choice after you download the PS5 version? Hopefully there's a choice.

For me, my PS5 launch ideally would be a combination of PS5 only titles like Miles Morales and GT7 assuming it makes launch. Probably Ratchet & Clank but then a bunch of PS4 titles like Ghost of Tsushima and Cyberpunk 2077 upgraded to PS5. Like you mentioned, to save money and get the free upgrades

Personally i'm pretty good on games to play come launch and that also includes any current games that will carry over such as Fortnite, Warzone and Destiny 2 etc. i currently play online.

For launch the only thing I'm looking forward to picking up is Cyberpunk, an extra controller and hopefully the docking station. Other than that I'm more or less set for now. This may change once Sony decides to give us some more info about the system and companies tell us what is actually going to release when the system does.

Plus there's the included Astro's Playroom with every PS5. I can't believe it, but Astrobot Missions for PSVR is one of my favorite platformer games of all time, 10/10, so I expect Sony Japan will deliver another very fun action game. If it's a full game as it looks like it'll be, that's awesome, and I'm sure it'll showcase the PS5's potential with lots of cool special effects.

The black case is a much better choice. It stands it apart from the PS4s and it will also contrast with the PS5 white/black design.

It matches better in terms of color design, yes.

For the new PS4 games ordered (saving 20+ dollars) that will include free PS5 upgrades, I can always just cut out a narrow piece of paper and write PS5 in black ink on the top left and then insert that into the game case if I want to distinguish those two games from my PS4 library of disc games.

For $20 savings, I feel it's not a big deal to download the PS5 upgrades to my PS5 and then just never remove them. I've had games stored on my PS3 since 2010 without any issues (other than that one Sony latest update that almost completely destroyed/wiped out my PS3 by looping it to the failed update screen endlessly, total luck that I got it to finally work). After it finally loaded the update, everything was working as it was before. All in the name of trying to get it to update to play a newer blu ray disc...

But yeah, that's the risk of consoles with digital games stored on them that might have a limited time only offer. I'm sure Watch Dogs Legion and Cyberpunk 2077 will only allow the free PS5 upgrades for a limited time.

I feel like CDPR won’t put a time limit on that upgrade, weren’t they first out of the gate championing Smart Delivery and not forcing consumers to pay for the same game multiple times? They may even give owners a free PC version like they did with The Witcher 3 two months ago.

I dont mind the white banners. I hope the cases do change to black to further distinguish them from PS4 cases. As for launch games ill be getting Spider-Man & Assassin's Creed Valhala. Will also get Cyberpunk if it also gets a next gen release.

The more I look at the white banner the more I hate it. I'm also tired of the blue cases, and the white banner makes them look even worse, imo. I would have liked to see clear cases again, or even all white cases with a black banner.

It'd also be great if they'd finally go with smaller cases since manuals don't exist anymore and there isn't anything in there beyond a disc and a little voucher. There is no need for them to be as big as the previous gen's cases have been.

At present, CDPR have confirmed a PS5 patch will release near launch for an enhanced version of the game but once a PS5 version is ready for release maybe up to a year or so down the line. They will give it for free to all owners of the PS4 edition whether disk or digital.

Best consumer friendly upgrade path out there right now imo.

The black cases make sense since they match the standard 4K Blu-ray case color, just as the PS4 (and the PS3 before it) matched the standard blue Blu-ray case. For a ton of consumers, the PS5 will be their first foray into the 4K Blu-ray market. When they see movies in black cases, they will subliminally pick up on the fact that they will play in their PS5.

At least the branding is clear with the PS5 logo. MS really need to sort out their next gen message, it's a confusing mess right now.

Their coverart is a mess for sure and i would say the Blue case side by side there has a cohesion to it with a slight differentiation however i think those black UHD style cases for PS5 would be even better to get a clear cut identity whilst keeping the PS4 to PS5 clear.
