Both Mori, The Artist’s Habitat and One Summer Story definitely sound like something I’d buy and enjoy.
No chance to be honest. He's a great director, but a little too 'classic' nowadays I think. Unless he wins awards in a major festival nobody will pay him too much notice, and Woodsman and Yonosuke are more accessible than his others yet sold really really poorly...
Also, he's a major name in japan, so his films are usually handled by the bigger companies, making them riskier to release due to high asking prices.

That's a shame. I've yet to watch my recently acquired copy of Yonosuke but I can say that The Woodsman and the Rain was really rather good.

Balls! Just received Top Knot Detective from Amazon. No slip.

It did come with one didn't it? First pressing?

Yes, it did. The first pressing has an O-ring sleeve with the same design as the standard release's Amaray insert (i.e. black surround VHS case with a slightly 'distressed' look printed on) but a different light coloured 'bare legs' design on the Amaray insert contained within. At least that's how mine looks, not sure about others.

Crap! Wish I didn't open it now

I think I'll be keeping my eyes open for a second copy in HMV or something.

Cheers!

Is the slip cover the ONLY limited thing?

Thanks for letting us know, it's really appreciated! Unfortunately, this is literally the worst time of the year for me since limited editions of Flash Gordon, the Gamera collection, the Jodorowsky collection, and Walkabout have bled me dry, but I'm sure others will fare better. I might still check with you come September, although I suspect those will be gone long before that.

Maybe get someone you know to buy a copy & pay them back next month. that way you'd know you'll have one & wouldn't be likely to miss out.

A programme of rare experimental shorts by Nobuhiko Obayashi, Girl in the Picture: The Youth Films of Nobuhiko Ôbayashi, will be streaming live tonight as part of the Glasgow Short Film Festival (which has a pay as you can sliding scale) and will then be available on demand until midnight tomorrow. It will be followed by a reel of his 70s commercials, featuring Charles Bronson, subtitled for the first time.

And buy Hanatagami if you haven't already.

I thibnk the disc contents are exactly the same, minus the trailer preview thing the US release has, as the Mondo Macabro one.

Good to know as I've held off the MM release in order to support the home team. Looking forward to this.
