I liked the show ok, however I would rather not to be forced to hear them bleeping words. I would rather they script the product for regular TV.
Will give it two more shows to develop before deciding if it is a regular watch for me.

Not quite sure why they did the word bleeping, to give it that reality feel maybe? I thought it was rather obnoxious though that two kids from the OC where in one episode. The rookie and the long haired dude that got pulled over. In high school my ex used to make me watch that horrible show every week with her, and I remember all those little bastards faces and bad enough that show left a bad taste in my mouth over the rookie Ben, but come on another kid from the OC in the pilot?

I could not figure out who the kid was who's house they raided first though, he looked very familiar but I couldn't place him, anybody know?

One good way to ensure cancellation of your show is to cast Kevin Alejandro. He's doomed Shark, Sleeper Cell and Drive, interestingly he has the same effect on tv shows as Nathan Filion, and they where both in Drive so that show was double dead. It was nice to see Shawn Hatosy again, I think last time I saw him was in Alpha Dog.

I liked the show. Also enjoyed the double new episodes of Office.

I hope Southland does well ratings wise, I think it's got a lot of potential. I really enjoyed watching the premiere last night. I also wonder if this might be a summer run that way it will be over for the season when Leno starts up in the fall. Sci-Fi does that with Eureka, and more channels should follow suit. It will give us something other then reruns and wretched "this isn't good enough for real tv" shows.

No not Brody I know him, I'm talking about the kid who played the crazy dude the cry baby, IMDB says his name is Taylor Handley and he played Oliver on The OC, and Wade on last night's show.

Southland, a new gritty crop drama from the producers of ER, made the biggest splash last night, propelling NBC to a rare victory for the evening. The show's premiere pulled in a 3.2 rating and 9 share in the 18-49 demographic, and averaged 9.72 million viewers--good numbers for the struggling NBC. The numbers actually got better as the show headed into its second half-hour, meaning viewers probably liked what they saw and were sticking around, a great sign for a show's debut.

Maybe if they can cancel Earl and Parks this might have a chance!

Parks and Recreation, Amy Poehler's new comedy from the producers of The Office, did fairly solid for normal networks/good for NBC at 8:30 p.m, with a 3.9/11 and 6.77 million viewers. But given that it was sandwiched between two episodes of The Office that both outperformed it considerably (the 9 p.m. Office almost beat it by a whole ratings point), NBC has to be a little concerned.

It wasn't bad, I'll give it that. That said I'm now judging networks as a whole and not just show by show, so whether or not I invest in Southland (which like ER I enjoy watching but won't care less if I happen to miss) is going to depend on their treatment of Chuck.

I do love Chuck and Life, but I think Life is almost absolutely dead and Chuck isn't very far behind. I just don't understand how they can cancel such incredibly awesome shows.

If I judged shows by the network I couldn't watch Reaper, because it's on the same network as Gossip Girl and 90210, lol. That and Supernatural definitely do not belong on the CW.

I caught that as well with the scene with Ben and that punk Oliver kid. What I kinda noticed is that Oliver was acting like he recognized Ben when he said something like "You're a cop now? You went from acting to being a cop?" I was thinking the scene was kinda mocking the O.C. thereafter when Oliver said something to Ben about "Why dont you call your dad and he can get me out" or somethig like that. Kinda ironic Ben McKenzie's character is named Ben as well. Or maybe its to have a realistic feel. Either way, pretty cool show overall imo.

It I found it funny Ben's name is Ben here, but also when he made that comment about "your dad getting me out" it also seemed to imply that maybe he was a lawyer like Ryan's adopted dad Sandy on the OC, lol. That comment his partner made about you've got 90210 written all over you, they all seem like OC jokes to me.

Surprising I gave this show my 3 episode rule, to where if I'm not hooked on a show by episode 3 I'd done with it for good, and last night was episode 3. I am actually still enjoying this quite a bit. I figured I was going to hate it, but I have thus far been surprised by how much it doesn't suck haha. I read it is actually very likely for a renewal so I'll hold off till official news, but I think I'm gonna have to vote keep this and keep watching, anybody else?

why would they spoof that? SNL did it fine, is this a common song to spoof of serious dramas?
