So Leon is coming! Yay! It will be the complete cut right? Hopefully before Christmas?

True.
But, Penton knows the answer to when someone on a film set calls out for a “doughnut” or a “brownie” or a “cookie” and exactly what it means when they’re not referring to something on the craft-service table………or, what it means when someone calls for a “hand-job” on a closed set -----and no, it has absolutely nothing to do with sex.

If any members or lurkers (excluding a few that I know who work in the industry) have any idea as to what the above terms mean in the film production industry, I will procure yet another free Blu-ray title to giveaway to them.

In the meantime, here’s an easy one that you might actually find by googling ………what are C-47’s?

With ST:TMP, it's because the director's cut does not yet exist in HD, it was done in 480 only

It's not that they can't, it's that there's going to be another release down the road, and since they can't make this definitive, may as well shoot again for next time.

I've PM'd you your answer to your Q BTW Penton

The Brownie camera was invented by George Eastman, and was one of the first ways photography got into the hands of the common person. The first Brownie cameras were cheap cameras that came pre-loaded with film, and you mailed them back to Eastman Kodak for developing. Brownie cameras and others like them can be used as light exposure meters to help get a film look.

There is also a modern patent (~ 2001-2003) for Brownie film, which is a type of film that is "wound about a spool such that a leader covers outside. A filmstrip has first and second lateral side portions. Upon manufacturing the filmstrip, film information is printed as latent images in the first lateral side portion. The first lateral side portion comes to upper side of the filmstrip when the filmstrip is pulled from the spool to leftward, viewed from a base surface side of the filmstrip. A data exposure head of the camera imprints photographic information as individual printing patterns." Not sure if that's anything to do with the other meaning.

Me too. I'll be paying them to see it! Probably a few times.
And I'll pay for the Blu-ray version too!

Hey Bill,

Thanks for praising the job Paramount is doing with their releases. Right they very much seem to be doing the best possible job at getting their catalog titles out.

I mean who would have expected Waynes World (party time, excellent!) Major League and Black Sheep to be put out so soon.

Fantastic stuff.

I hope they get consideration in this years Bitsy's.

When is that by the way? I thought u did them around Academy Award time.

I also appreciate your rant on thebits. I agree if the studio is gonna release a film on blu, it needs to have AT LEAST all of the previously available dvd features.

I cant wait to get the Trek films on bluray, but I will probably sell the first one. I did not like the first one at all. The Undiscovered Country is my favorite.

Not sure if I understood this, but if you're asking about Warner's Heat (as in where the hell is it?) it's coming later this year or very early next. A new transfer is in the process of being approved now.

The simple fact is, there wasn't really time. As Jeff said, they need to completely rebuild the TMP DC, and they spent a LOT of money remastering and restoring Star Trek II. So they figured they'd start with the theatrical cuts. Bottom line is that there are plenty of fans out there who want both, so this is a good start. They also DID create some interesting new bonus material for these releases, so it's not like they aren't trying hard to offer some value for the purchase.

If I'd been at that Austin screening, after JJTrek I would have absolutely *****ed about there being no Khan

They totally need to do a fathom events screening of the remaster, guess it's too late for that

When you say rebuild, Bill, I assume the new effects for The Motion Picture Director's Edition were done at the same resolution as the rest of the film?

Is it just the transfer that needs to be rebuilt?

Unfortunately, they were done at 480.

Perfect translation Bill.

Although the news is bad, thanks for the update.
