I bought a couple skate deck and grip designs and I don't see them when I'm trying to change those appearance options. So I might be in the same boat. I um, don't know what the deal is.

I don't have the game open at the moment. But I think the skate shop is accessible at the top of the main menu, not in the pause menu, where you go through tabs by pressing L1, R1 and L2 and R2. It's the same menu system when the game is paused, but the shop only shows when you're not already in a game mode.
I bought some things, it subtracted the money, but I don't see them in other menus.

I can't get the hang of doing manuals to extend my combos. I see videos of people doing million point runs and all, and I have no idea. Manuals weren't something I learned in the original THPS2.
The tutorial says to tap the left stick up or down, or the directional button. I can only get into it using the left stick, like 60% of the time. Tapping the directional buttons have yet to get me into a manual. And I can't land into one.

I've gotten kind of used to finding a place to grind and bounce off a wall and repeat to get bigger scores. But I don't want to keep myself limited to that.

Manuals need a super quick up then down flick on the stick or dpad or a quick down>up which I'm sure you know (your post seemed to imply your only pushing either up or down, but you have to do both in rapid succession to manual). Just want to make sure your hitting both up/down or down/up.

I will update if I see a way to them! I'm also only playing as Hawk. I've thought maybe it's only there if you use your own skater but that doesn't seem right, and I also haven't gone into create a skater at all.

Oohkay, thanks! The tutorial doesn't seem to explain that very well, or I'm just dense. I even started to think my d-pad was subtly busted. Will try this out when I start again later. I just free skated around for like 45 minutes thinking I would start getting the hang of it.
