Of course. One of Patrick Swayze's finest movies. Plus it's a nostalgic favorite for me personally.

I do miss Patrick Swayze. Cool guy.

Due to a knee injury he sustained during filming, Patrick Swayze turned down the roles of Gabriel Cash in Tango & Cash (1989) and Mike Harrigan in Predator 2 (1990). He chose to make Ghost (1990) as his follow-up instead, as it was a less physically strenuous role. The knee injury ended up being a blessing in disguise, as Ghost (1990) ended up being a big hit, and received critical acclaim. "Tango & Cash" was a box office flop, as was "Road House".

When Dalton, played by Patrick Swayze, first shows up at the Double Deuce, he stands at the end of the bar next to a post. On the post is carved "Buddy's Corner". Buddy was Patrick Swayze's nickname.

Patrick Swayze was approached to star in Predator 2 (1990), but was unable to because he was injured during the filming of this movie. Joel Silver was the producer of both movies.

According to Sam Elliott, all of the actors did their own stunts. They were all trained by Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, a holder of nine black belts in nine different disciplines. Urquidez believed so much in Patrick Swayze's abilities, that he suggested Swayze become a competitive kickboxer.

Marshall R. Teague (Jimmy) initially didn't get along with Patrick Swayze (Dalton), but while filming their big fight, both men quickly realized they shared a dedication to realistic stunts, which improved their relationship. They developed so much mutual trust that they improvised a lot, and allowed each other to throw real punches and kicks. When Jimmy swings a log at Dalton, Teague mistakenly thought it was a breakable prop log. By the end, Swayze was covered in bruises and had two broken ribs and a busted knee.

It's a toss-up who used more hair spray in the movie: Patrick Swayze or Kelly Lynch. Swayze joked, "That hair turned into the bane of my existence."

It's a mostly crappy that somehow survives off of Swayze being so goddamn good at his role. I enjoy it but it's not that good.

Also... wtf? He could have been in Predator 2? Tango and Cash? Jeez. I... can't even imaged Predator 2 beyond what it was. I wonder if it would have been better w/ him?

Whoppi Goldberg once told a story about how Swayze refused to do Ghost, unless the producers saw past their bias and hired her for the role of Oda Mae Brown. Total legend.

He did. Whoopi wasn't on the list of actresses to read. The thing is, neither was Patrick at first. They only approached him after so many other actors passed on the role and he both knew it, and used it to his full advantage. So unless they wanted him to also pass, they had to read Whoopi for the role or start the casting search over yet again. He was always a stand-up guy.

Also, the Kevin Smith/Scott Mosier commentary is one of the best.
