Default Black Sheep (1996, Chris Farley) - May 12th 2009

Black Sheep

The 1996 movie is up for pre-order on Amazon and I don't know if anyone mentioned it. Does anyone know if this movie is just gonna release with the special features the original DVD has, because if I remember correctly I don't know if the original had a lot of features. I am hoping for more to be released. Anyone know any other details about this movie?

I liked it better when it was called Tommy Boy.

Good movie. It is a shame Chris Farley died so young.

This is such a badass movie, day one pickup for me. Tommy Boy is a better movie, but Black Sheep is definitely funnier.

I agree. Tommy boy is a more endearing "story" but imo Black sheep is way funnier and I think its a big factor that gary busey is in it LOL and he is priceless and has hilarious lines and intensity.

Last night, I watched my Blu-rays of Tommy Boy and Black Sheep back-to-back.

Tommy Boy is my favorite of the two by far, but both movies are hilarious, and they both bring back some fun 1990s memories.

Oddly, the Blu-ray transfer of Tommy Boy looks really undetailed to my eyes, and, during the early minutes of my viewing last night, I actually ejected my disc to double-check and make sure that it was, indeed, a Blu-ray instead of a DVD. The picture quality is likely an improvement over my old DVD, but it's not that big of an improvement. Tommy Boy deserves better in terms of picture quality.

Black Sheep, however, looks downright stellar on Blu-ray. There's a lot of detail, the colors are perfect, and the picture looks as though I could step inside the screen.

It's strange, since they are both Paramount Pictures releases. I guess that the source material for Tommy Boy is simply not as good, but I'm not sure.

At any rate, I'm happy to have both discs in my collection at last, since I waited a long while to upgrade from the old DVDs that I used to own.

Bit late, but can confirm that both Tommy Boy and Black Sheep play in Australia. I had issues playing on my PC due to AACS Decoding (which I've never heard of), but you can just google to find instructions on how to download a config file to run in VLC. Both play fine on my PS4 though without any issues.

I didn't like this when it came out.

Unlike Tommy Boy, I thought everything felt forced.

I mean, there are some good lines, but it's obvious they were trying to do another Tommy Boy without doing one. Funny enough, it might have worked better as a real sequel.

I'm with you on this. Tommy Boy isn't groundbreaking by any means, but it works because Farley and Spade let their natural chemistry do all the work. They both were very relaxed and it came through.

With Black Sheep, it felt like they were trying SO HARD to be funny. It didn't work.
