Hard Target had great screen violence, even in it's R-rated form
Broken Arrow had a thunderous REALLY LOUD soundtrack that assaulted it's audience Face/Off - eh, it had flying doves ... I really don't remember much of this movie. |

Face/Off. It's pretty much the best action film of the 90's and really the last truly great holdover from the 80's and early 90's. Between it and Con Air, it signaled the last great hurrah of the action film, before it was replaced by disaster and superhero films.
But Hard Target kicks all of the ass and Broken Arrow is terrific fun. Travolta kills it. |

Finally saw Broken Arrow for the very first time. I'm kinda mixed on it. The action is great. John Woo delivers on the action as usual. However, I wasn't all that invested in the movie. I think the main problem is the lead actor. He can't carry a film. He doesn't glue you in like a Chow-Yun Fat or Nic Cage. That might explain why John Travolta is front and center in the posters, despite being the main villain. John Travolta was fun in this, though.
I still recommend Broken Arrow though if you are a John Woo fan. You just got to be in the right mood to see it is all. |
