Well I guess I would be a "newer" member on this thread but have been part of the forums for over 10 years.

I use both physical and digital media. If I'm just looking to throw something on tv b/c there is nothing else to do or no sports on that I want to watch I will throw on something from my iTunes collection. I have well over 1200 movies on there. Now if I'm going to have a "movie" night, I will grab the physical disc and put it in the player. Digital in my house is mainly for convenience for the wife and kids. When I want to "really" watch a movie I will break out the disc for the best quality. I have a 65 Inch LG OLED along with a 5.1.2 surround sound set up.

I meant test the theory by leaving on your own permanently, not because of a banning... I didn't expect that you would honor the request, it was just tongue and cheek. Also, you were temp banned a little while ago, and people knew you were coming back, which was discussed in the thread... That doesn't count as a test.

I haven't questioned anyones integrity, or made up any accusations at all... There is indeed truth to what I have said in this thread today, but I never expected you to agreed.

I also didn't say anything offensive about older members, saying that I'll likely be on this earth for a lot longer the older retired members is a true statement... Saying that I am younger, they're my dad's age, and reminding them that they have less time on this earth left then me, is somehow offensive is it:

I'll likely still be here long after you're gone from this earth, and your collections are sent to the dump by your family that inherits it) I find it far more interesting hearing from people that are into and favour physical media that are 40 and below, particularly those in their 20s and late teens.

Do they fear change and letting go of it like many older people seem to? I'm also interested in whether they put much thought into when we reach retirement age in 25-50 years... As time goes on, this hobby is going to become more challenging for younger collectors. Older people don't have to worry too much about whether they will easily be able to use their Blu-ray collections in a few decades from now, whereas we do... For instance, second hand players will likely be our only option.

It's a different topic and conversation from the usual in this thread (unless you count the oldies in this thread making fun of younger people for their choices), a new direction would probably do it some good.
As for the following, that was clearly a joke comment, which is exactly what the emojis signify... I didn't say that I would do those things to you or them, I said it would go that way if you were to try to gang up and chase off any young people in real life that you chase off and gang up on in this thread... Which it would, so again another true statement:

Just did a snapshot of the number of people viewing Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray sections and it was about 3000, there were 61 people viewing Digital Movies. Who would have thought it for a site named Blu-ray.COM

You can add D-VHS and all the advancements in home theater processors along the way to the list of changes some of us embraced along the way. There was no fear whatsoever when I sold a perfectly good 2-3 yr old processor to purchase a new one that brought advancements to my system (which has happened 6 times in the past 19 years) The reason why some of us are not embracing streaming is that it is a step backwards for reasons often discussed and shared.
I didn't mean fear and change in that sense, I meant from physical format to all digital online distribution... Sure, no doubt some would be fine with the shift if the quality was there, and it were to surpass physical media, however, others peoples views suggest that they are not willing to move to it all, because of other reasons that don't have to do with picture and audio quality.

They are perfectly valid reasons. Saying it's just paranoia or resistance to change is absurd.

I would gladly embrace a digital format that didn't require ongoing support and had the same first sale rights as physical media.

I just received the prize that I won in one of this website's giveaways; my first prize ever after years of entering contests here! Only 7 seven days between notification and receipt.

I have never seen this movie and now I can... for free!

Indeed they are... But it's no more valid than the other 1,435,869 times that you've said this year ... I am beginning to believe that you don't actually watch anything, and that your favourite and only hobby is coming online and typing that

Earlier, when I made the tin foil hat comment, I wasn't meaning that it's not a true concern... What I was more implying is that, to me it's like the people that talk about Star Wars all of the time (you'll never catch me in the Star Wars thread here), I view it as a bit of a nerdy loser thing (I don't mean any offensive) to regularly talk about..

I have tons of free time, more than enough for all of my hobbies.

The word loser is an insult, saying you "don't mean any offensive" doesn't nullify that.

I don't believe it is an insult in that context... I didn't say it as though that's what I think about you as a person, was using it to refer to what I think about discussing the topic itself.

You said that regularly talking about Star Wars is a loser thing to do. That certainly sounds like you're insulting people who like to discuss Star Wars.

Those 2 words, nerdy and loser, can be used to describe a thing, which is exactly what I used them for... To describe what I think about a particular topic in this thread. In the case of Star Wars, there are certainty plenty of people in the world that love talking about them all of the time that get classes by other people as being nerdy losers due to their obsession with them, however that's still not directed at anyone specifically.

Just like people who use the words nerd and loser are raging jerks who think they are superior to others when in reality they are sad little man children who have to validate their own masculinity by insulting and belittling others.

You forgot to add "no offense" to the end of your post.

Oh, but I did mean offense. I'm not naming anyone in particular. But I don't care if I offend, you know, those people.
