OLED has absolute black levels that no other flat panel technology can match. They just need to improve on the brightness level so that one day HDR tone mapping is no longer needed.

Also we will have to see if QD-OLED is worse or better then OLED when it is released. Some claim QD-OLED is not as good as OLED, while others say there is a wider color gamut with QD-OLED.
LG makes all OLED panels used today

Samsung will be making QD-OLED panels

Another manufacturing method is going on line: IJP OLED: Ink Jet Printed OLED.
