when I was a kid the dentist I went to pulled a baby tooth out but didn't use novacaine so it hurt and since then I hated dentists. I recently got a root canal and crown from this one guy which was fine but the worst customer experience. none one told me the place had been sold so they no longer too my insurance so I had to pay but they gave me a discount.

I think the they are all about the same is almost right but going to one seems to be a hassle. I should never go again either

Yes, there are bad dentists. My own experience was not so much shoddy work but more just wanting to make money.

I went to one dentist for several years. He pulled the top two of my wisdom teeth after taking x-rays. I asked him about the lower ones. He said based on the x-rays, they appear to be fine. He doesn't want to do any unnecessary procedures and put me through that if it's not necessary. He said it's not a big deal because if they ever do bother me, we can deal with it then.

I changed jobs and my old dentist didn't accept my new insurance at the time so I found another guy. Immediately, he starts hounding me about taking them out. I explained that my previous dentist refused to pull them and they have been in my mouth for over ten years and they never bothered me. Still, the new dentist insisted. I kept pushing it off and every six months when I went to do my cleaning he would push and push about getting them taken out. I just quit going to him.

Called my old dentist and he now accepts my insurance. I asked him again about my wisdom teeth and he said he still sees nothing wrong and refuses to pull them out. I asked him about the other dentist and he said some guys are just in it for the money because getting people to pull their wisdom teeth has become such common practice everyone just accepts it and has them pulled. He said after all these years, they still look fine and if you feel no discomfort, leave them alone. One day, if they bother me, he can take them out. The exact same thing he told me two years ago when I last saw him.

Let's call the other dentist Dr. Smith. F you, Dr. Smith.

Since moving in this place has had problems with it. the air stop working again and I didn't deviate from the recommended 71 degrees F on the cool setting. I can't go anywhere else but this place is chosen by the county. I'm tired of this nonsense. I want to move back to kentucky and live there again.

Back before I had dental insurance (late 90's) I went to a dental clinic that was a college so all the dentists were students with real dentists as supervisors. The student dentist who worked on me did a good job so I stuck with him and kept going to him after he established himself. After a while he kept telling me I needed this or I should do that and I got suspicious. I finally stopped going to him after I realized he just wanted to squeeze every last bit of insurance money from me. I think I still owed him $400 for work I'm pretty sure I didn't actually need. I looked him up and he's still working from the same office. One reviewer said he charged her insurance company $800 for X-Rays without her knowledge.

My real concern, though, is going to a dentist who will do shoddy work like my last guy. I want to find one good dentist in my neighborhood and stick with them as long as I can.

A good dentist is hard to come by and they are definitely not all equal.

You can maybe try Angie's List.

As alluded to earlier, the key is, if you can manage it, get into a local college's dental school and then stay there.

Usually, you have to apply and they literally have a lottery drawing every few months for new patients. It's really just a waiting game. It took me close to a year to get in, but once you're in you can stay for life. I like it better than going to a private practice because you have many professionals looking over you with many years of experience. Granted, your visits will take longer, because you have a student learning and having to check in with their staff on every detail, but it's a small trade-off for substantially cheaper care that's still state of the art.....without the self-interest shenanigans mentioned above.

Currently baffled. My once very open, independent ten-year-old has reverted to being a shy, lonely little girl. For the last week all she'd do is sit off in a corner, wrapped up in her woobie and just shrug her shoulders if asked a question. And worst of all her mother refuses to do anything. Not too surprised with her current mental health status.

I'm hoping to take the kid up to the Lake next week, just the two of us just like the good old days, hopefully she'll confide in me enough to at least tell me what's up.

that's really unfortunate, hope she opens up to you and tells what's on her mind

in this current day and situation, I was hearing about an elementary kid who was remote learning and he just at one point rested his head on his bedroom desk from looking at the computer and just fell apart and sobbed - I feel so bad for these kids. My niece just the other day (she's in high school) had a total panic attack when one of her assignments just up and disappeared on her computer.

it seems to be more of a pain to be disable than getting help. I mean it seems I still have to work full time even though SSA is limiting me to 20 hours but the pay isn't helping I hate living here. everything is too expensive and even having a job for 20 hours doesn't seem like its worth it but still I have find and keep a job this time.

I'm 42 and didn't know squirrels ate mushrooms until today. There were 2 in the backyard munching down, and they looked quite happy.

I'm 41 and I knew, or at least had a very good idea, that you eat a lot of mushrooms
