Well PE, I'm sad to report I got a cancellation email from Target today - I almost had hope it would go the distance, but I guess the November date was too much for Target.

Poor Col. Glenn Manning just gets no respect...

Either way, you'll always get the item you ordered (or you simply get your money back) but it does suck that they don't show us if there is or isn't any stock for an item we order, and don't let us know about these lengthy delays.
Thanks for the response. I just saw this. I got great customer service as I posted above letting me know my wait is on Tank Girl.

Also, in case you missed it, a few pages back I posted a message from SF that they would soon be revealing a fix to that backorder problem, so we will know when we buy if it's on backorder. Which is something we've all wanted!

While those old Scream Factory rumors about Fade to Black never panned out, the film will be making it's Blu-Ray debut as part of Vinegar Syndrome's Black Friday release line-up.

Such a letdown because Boorman can be a great director. Loved Point Blank, Hell In The Pacific, Deliverance, The Emerald Forest and my favorite, Excalibur.
How can a man with such gifts make turkeys like Exorcist 2 and Zardoz?
If you listen to Boorman's commentary, you will understand what he was going for. His comments give some perspective to some of the sillier scenes, like the Second Level scenes where he was trying to depict telepathic conflict and Friend's expulsion from the Eternals' collective mind, but ended up with ridiculous noises and finger waving.

Oh, awesome. I did miss that. This'll be a game changer for many, I am sure. I do hope this doesn't result in them killing partial shipments, though.

I'm glad it worked out for you, bro. I hope it works out just as well for others.

With today's announcement that Shout!/Scream is working on a 4K edition of Army of Darkness and the upcoming 4K edition of They Live, I'm starting to wonder even if it's even worth buying standard Blu-ray editions of Shout!/Scream titles anymore, or if I should just sit it out and wait? My guess is we'll probably see a 4K edition of Escape from New York, and maybe even more John Carpenter titles like The Fog and Big Trouble in Little China?

I'm looking at titles I have yet to add to my collection, like The 'Burbs and wonder if I should just stop right now or wait. The question is, waiting too long could lead to titles going out-of-print, and not seeing any more physical media releases. The risk versus waiting, for a movie collector it can be frustrating.

I'd say it's 50/50 whether Scream Factory upgrades Escape from New York and The Fog, or the rights revert back to MGM. Either way, I think a domestic UHD is probably forseeable in the not too distant future.

Big Trouble in Little China is a Fox/Disney title, so probably the least likely of the lot to get a UHD upgrade.

They've already lost the rights to Escape from New York, so I'd expect that from someone else.

Just upgrade your favorite releases. I'll be upgrading They Live but not Army of Darkness. It's not a favorite film of mine and not a film i re-watch often. I'm more than happy with the 3-disc collector's edition.

The way i see it, now that SF is releasing 4K titles, if they announce a title that's just a standard blu ray, chances are it won't be getting a 4K (at least not from them). Yeah, i know BU operates the opposite way and makes us all double dip regardless, but i don't think SF would do the same thing.

As for which of their older titles get a 4K release, i'd say the Carpenter titles are a pretty good guess and any other titles that have sold well or have a big following. Maybe Sleepaway Camp and Candyman?

A 4K UHD Blu-ray of Cat People (1982).

Make it happen, Scream Factory.

I remember Irwin Yablans telling me that Scream Factory was working on it, back in 2018 (he was one of the guests at the Halloween: 40 Years of Terror convention). No matter, what's important is that it's FINALLY getting a release, from a label with a reputation for good quality. I ordered the bundle they were selling for both it and the UHD for Beastmaster.

Lifeforce already has a perfectly good Blu-ray restoration, although I’d buy it in 4K in a second.

Cat People really needs an improved transfer, though.

Psst! Hey Scream, I’m sure you’re aware but just a reminder that there’s a fresh 4K transfer of Dog Soldiers now out there.

(Please)

Does Shout Factory own The Lost Empire now through their Corman acquisition?

It got a BD-R release from a company in 2016 but now it seems to be OOP.

Barndoor would you be able to chime in ? Does Shout own this film now ?

It would be really cool to get this on Blu from Shout Factory....This film is bonkers! In a good way of course.
