Yes. 4k OLED for each eye.

I think 4K per eye is a little ambitious. Full HD per eye is more likely.

Nice they have the analog sticks. Those look like they'll be very expensive, $99.99 for the pair at least.

Resolution is the main thing for me. Couldn't shake the 'screen door' effect. Took me out of the game.

Never bothered me, I wasn’t expecting 4K OLED for first gen tech. The immersion always overruled any resolution issues.
When I was ducking underwater in Astrobot, navigating a stunning castle in Moss and avoiding a a mad guy with a axe in RE, I never once worried about the resolution.

I’ll keep an eye on how this turns out. Failed to get into PSVR much and just not sure BR is for me. But will keep an open mind as I know the tech, head set designs etc are still in the early stages and will improve over time.

I actually just sold my PSVR stuff on eBay yesterday as I haven’t used it in ages. Same with my SNES classic since the SNES games hit Switch online. More money for the 4KTV fund!

I’m just invested 100% in this stuff now. I’m the opposite of you, apart from COD, pretty much only play VR now. Flat games seem boring in comparison. Especially racing games.

Yeah, it’s just a to each their own thing for sure. I tried multiple times over the three years I had the PSVR to get into it, played a bunch of games, but finished few. The experience just never really “clicked” for me after the initial wow factor wore off.

On top of that the PSVR headset itself was a nuisance for me. The best BR games for me were once that required some moving around (Farpoint with the Aim controller, Super Hot, Beat Saber etc) and those with the headset on made me sweat like crazy even with the A/C on (or in winter) and a fan blowing on me, making it a constant battle with the lenses fogging up. Also a ton of fidgeting around every time to find the sweet spot in the field of vision, especially when trying to play with glasses rather than contacts. Not to mention the wire mess and clutter. Took a long while to get it all unhooked and untangled to box up yesterday.

I know some of that can be improved with a new design and tech improvements, as can the controls as PSVR with the Moves sucks compared to PCVR with controllers skin to those in the patent above. But honestly the VR experience just doesn’t seem to jive with me. I don’t like being that shut out from everything around me, my attention span sucks so I like to multi task and game with sports on the iPad next to me, pause and respond to texts, check forums and Reddit etc. That’s not as feasible with a VR headset on.

I also like longer, story driven games, love binging them all day on weekends etc and it’s hard to see myself doing that and spending 6-8+ hours in a headset on a Saturday and Sunday etc. So it’s likely just not for me. VR strength seems to be more in gameplay focused stuff, racers, Beat Saber etc. I doubt I’d ever enjoy something like The Witcher 3 in VR given that I hated playing Skyrim that way. Games like that I want to play several hours straight, relaxing on the couch. Just wasn’t enjoyable trying to do it in a headset.

In any case, glad I finally got around to selling it and that it got bought quickly at the buy it now price I set as I was worried it wouldn’t sell this late in the generation. With money from that, the SNES Classic and my Amazon rewards points from my Visa the 4KTV fund is up to $900 something. Should be able to get one of the two (Samsung Q80T or Sony X900H 65”) I have my eye in for relatively little out of profit when holiday sales hit as they were already down around $1,100 in Labor Day sales.

I got rid of my PSVR because of the resolution and it was so clunky to set up. I'm hoping PSVR 2 is wireless and connects directly to the PS5. If that doesn't happen then I'm going to pass. Also, I don't see PSVR 2 coming out before 2022 which would give users time to get the PS5.

PSVR is cool if you're a fan of stereo 3D games and feeling like you're inside of a video game environment, with the ability to interact as if you were really there. The head tracking movement is probably the most incredible aspect along with the ability to look around you 360 degrees and be surrounded by the game world. Up close, objects are sharp and realistic. Further back they lower in resolution. Some games have higher resolutions than others.

What game are you currently playing on PSVR Steedeel?
I'm still trying to complete Pixel Ripped VR in my spare time, along with 5 other new PSVR games I bought. Otherwise, I just finally completed Horizon Zero Dawn last week, and now am working on Mafia Remake. Next week, a 6th new PSVR game, Star Wars Squadrons, which I can't wait to try out in PSVR.

As far as 2D games, I still love playing those even if they're not in the VR realm and I won't ever get tired of them having played them my whole life in 2D. Even so, if they had the option to be in stereo 3D in the VR world, of course I'd play it that way.

I’m not playing any mate, sister in hospital along with her hubby due to COVID.

I have 20 new games planned for December.

The first version was a pain with the wires but the upgraded model is way better. I just have the little box next to my old PS3 and I just take the headset out when finished and put it in my headset stand. No trailing wires, everything is neat and out of sight. Couldn’t really do that with version 1 though. I get by with the camera on top of tv. Only bad issues with two games and I put camera in front of tv and it sorted. For 98% of my games, the camera is fine.

I don’t multitask, I believe it’s bad for mental health. I’m the same with films. No interruptions and total immersion. Tech should work for us, not against us. For me, that is switching off from the real world is absolutely essential to my mind and body.

If Sony somehow pulled off the 4K per eye on that level with such a small area, the pixel per inch would be probably the most dense to ever be in any electronic display. It would be perfect for future hardware too if they kept compatibility and merely need the PS5 Pro, PS6 etc. to pump out better looking VR content imo.

I think 2K per eye is more probable for next generation PSVR2 mate.

I will sell my PSVR ahead of getting the PS5 and then will wait out on VR until Sony releases their new model.
While I had a lot of fun with some games, I never got over the blurry graphics and the awkward setup with the cables and the move controllers, camera.
Especially first person games (which is probably the main genre for VR) gave me a headache. Tried playing that Walking Dead Game a few weeks ago and quit after two hours. Walking slowly through PS1 3D graphics with shitty motion controlls is just not fun to me, 360 degrees or not.

Hope the VR2 will come sooner than later. Still think VR has a lot of potential but on a (non-pro) PS4 it was always kind of ugly and sketchy.

It’s not ps1 quality graphics, that’s ridiculous.

Also, why were you walking slowly? You can sprint if needed.

You could be onto something. The current DF breakdown says performance mode on Dark Souls seemed tuned to 1440p.

I think the Quest will continue to overpower the PSVR next generation but competition is good.

The last poster though, with all due respect is talking nonsense comparing the graphics to PS1. It’s probably PS3 level but with the added immersion that VR brings. Games like Moss and Astrobot look fantastic.

I don’t think it helps when people make that kind of inaccurate comparison. Anyone reading that would be put off but I can assure everyone it’s nowhere near as bad as PS1 graphics!
