I actually lurked in this site for four months before creating an account.

Anyways, I have a Polk PSW 110..but after hanging out in the audio threads I felt an itch to buy a sub for myself. Made an offer of $185 for the Acoustic Audio HD-SUB12 (black) and it was accepted . so, now I belong in this club.
congratulations on your sub blu titan. hopefully we can assist you in setting that bad boy up.

actually, i have.

first off, thanks for noticing that ive posted some pictures on here, and on the rebuilding thread... seems that my posting has been bypassed, and lost my badge in the process.

second, without a spl meter at hand (lost both a friend and that by the way), im pretty much basing my results on assumption.

probably around 6db higher, i had to turn the settings down in my receiver (i would do that on the back of the sub, but ive had that calibrated for my multichannel outs, which, by the way, i have to work on too i guess...) and clocked it at around -6db than normal.

ive also noticed how smooth the bass frequencies are now. night and day? not exactly, but it did help out. i wonder if i filled up the entire box, would i benefit in such? im not sure, but for the meantime, im still pretty happy with the results.

would i recommend it? sure, give it a shot. its not going to eliminate a bad subwoofer from being what it is, but it would bring you at least a step further in learning about the process.

i havent actually completed my project just yet. wait and see bobby.

im not hinting anything at all kind sir. somehow, hmm... lets put it this way. we can compare it to a stock honda civic. as much as you can tweak it with changing so many components of this car, it aint gonna hold its own against lets say a ferrari. both are different in class. there is only so much we can do to further its performance, to to match it against a $500 subwoofer with properly tuned enclosures, and a high excursion baffle, well, it aint a fair fight.

we have our reasons why we had them in the first place. craigslist. pass me down. some HTIB component we want to recycle at one point. i think that considering such reasons, should also make us learn that to upgrade to a newer component, might as well make a difference in doing so. no point in upgrading laterally.

well it is what it is,,,, even the honda civc gets good reviews over the hyundai or the daewoo and all the other buckets..

i think it may be easier for me to justify spending 400bux (or 500 for the 15"s) on a dual set up than spending 700

If you buy a 15" subwoofer, your wife will have you suspended. Don't underestimate the power of WAF.

It's hard to believe the attention these subs have gotten in the last few months.
Anyway, I thought I'd put up some pics of the Dayton spikes I installed. Gloss black, not black chrome . . .

Nice.

I thought about going that route to lift my sub, but I wanted more lift than what the spikes provided. (that and I'm a cheap bastard and didn't want to pay $ to raise the sub)
