Yes but those older releases never had slipcases to begin with. To date they have not reissued any slipcases that have gone OOP.

I don't think VS mentioned anything about new catalog slipcovers for this upcoming Black Friday sale.

It's been unusually quiet for Scream/Shout these past few months, but I'm guessing all their resources went into the Friday set. I'm hoping 2021 brings us a lot of great titles as their November-December slate has left me slightly worried.
Hoping that we finally get Alligator, Deadly Friend, and the big one Alone in the Dark in 2021. Maybe we'll also finally get Dawn of the Dead... |

There may be some fears that Scream have 'run out' of titles. Admittedly, certain familiar avenues for them have been almost exhausted now: - Not much Hammer left (some Warner titles if they can get them, and a handful of others from the Hammer estate) - Not many Universal titles left (bar a few 00s titles, and perhaps a handful of CE double-dips) - The MGM catalogue is now being mined by Scorpion, Severin and Vinegar Syndrome, so would they even bother to make another deal, especially as they've just lost the rights to loads of MGM titles? That said, there are still numerous options for them, business-sense and materials permitting: - Paramount (no doubt the current deal still has a few titles left to reveal, including Dead Zone) - Warner Bros - Sony (still a fair few candidates here) - Corman (we've seen them start to mine this, but let's hope they also go beyond limited edition upgrades of previous releases) - Arkoff AIP (still a few possibilities here) There may also be some other catalogues they've snapped up or licenced, not to mention independent deals. Hopefully good things are in store for next year. |

I feel as though things are a bit more dependent on Shout now. There are a lot of dramas and comedies that need releases and that's the obvious line for things to go to. Speaking of Paramount, I'll say it so it's out in the living ether (again, again, again) Scream needs to get and release Raimi's last two to release: A Simple Plan and The Gift. And now that I think of it, maybe a deal could be worked out with Lionsgate since they have been taking their sweet time with releases, as some movies stay stuck in their vault. |

Yeah, it would be great if Shout could get a deal with Lionsgate. It's better than those films being forgotten and collecting dust.

Warner: There's still a lot to mine from this deal even if, based on sales of previous titles i.e. Val Lewton, indicate they will probably be sticking to the more recent fare. We still have FearDotCom, Gothika, House Of Wax, The Reaping, Orphan and maybe even a Collector's Edition of The Lost Boys or The Shining. Who owns the 2006 Black X-Mas remake? Was it Dimension? Who could put this film out? I'd love to see SF tackle it if possible. |

Another possibility discussed already - and admittedly speculative at this stage - is that SF gain access to Miramax titles via Paramount, who are now in charge of distributing the catalogue.
With Paramount simply re-releasing many Miramax releases formerly distributed by Echo Bridge and Lionsgate, it's difficult to know how amenable they'd be to SF's overtures. Are they content to simply make a cheap profit from existing Miramax releases, or is the move indicative of a company who have no real plans or care for the Miramax catalogue, and so would be willing to sub-licence to SF, who seem to be ahead of all other labels (with the possible exception of Criterion now) when it comes to licencing from Paramount. Even if Paramount are amenable, it might be that they keep hold of something like Scream, which would be unfortunate as that in particular is crying out for a good release. |

Apparently Kino had The Keep for awhile and Mann was willing to make a Director's Cut but it turned out the deleted footage was lost so they scrapped the whole thing. I'm surprised that the footage is lost since most of it ended up in the TV-version which is floating around online (It's got to be somewhere!!) So Mann is obviously willing to give The Keep another try as long as he can pull off a Coppola remix.... I do think SF will go hard on Paramount for the Miramax/Dimension Library and Black X-Mas (2006) would be one of the first out of the gate and probably a rerelease of the Halloween Set...... |

That’s what I’ve heard. I thought it was Mann that stopped the Blu. So I’m curious where the info about Mann wanting to do a Director’s Cut come from.

I referred to comments on the Kino thread by KL Insider who would know more about what went down when Kino Lorber had the rights to the film. If Anchor Bay had made an attempt years earlier and Mann had turned them down, it doesn't mean my comments are wrong. Here's the post your referencing: Quote:

Although, they are releasing Dave Franco's terrific 'The Rental' which is a thriller and not a 'horror' movie per se. (Can't wait for the making of featurette for it. Franco's directing style has a kind of David Fincher chilliness to it. There's not a wasted shot in the whole movie.) One series that would be kind of cool to get as a boxed set is the Children of The Corn series. If they released it with each movie getting it's own box and artwork, I'd probably pre-order it day one. I think there's a rights issue with several of the movies, that could prevent it from happening. |
