Here's what I would do if I were you.
1) Really consider if you want to buy Heavenly Sword or not
2) Consider having something else in your collection if the game turns out to not be that great
3) Play the game and think about your experience with it
4) Sometimes game just aren't that great.

Most of the games that I have bought are good. I have played some games that just aren't great or aren't as good as they could have been. If you buy Heavenly Sword, play it and think that it's not that great, then get rid of it and get something else. Consider that there might be a sequeal later on.

i might have to wait for more reviews before i go out and pre-order it now..

im sad too because i really looking forward to this game
Funny I'm sure they raved about Gears that was repetitive and only 5 hours..but oh yeah that didn't matter..it was beautiful looking.

And Heavenly Sword isn't .

Game reviews and magazines have the biggest influence on which games sell and which don't.

Paramount $150 Million dollars.

Wake up folks.

Hell, I love my PS3 way more than my 360, but I almost want to throw out my PS3 if I hear another person say "that person was biased" or "reviews don't matter" everytime a bad review comes out for a PS3 game.

I want the games to be great too, but if the majority of people don't think they are, oh well, then maybe they aren't. I'm not going to overlook the game's flaws just because I wanted it to be great, or because I want something I can brag about.

At least wait to play it yourself before you just call all these reviewers biased or ignorant. That will at least save some humility and hopefully make the PS community look a little more mature/less desperate. If you still love it and think it deserves a 9.7 score or whatever, then call them biased. But it's going to look silly when IGN UK or whoever else gave this game a low score gives Ratchet or Uncharted or Killzone a high score (hopefully), and then we say that it means a lot, now then we turn into hypocrites.

Well, I'm not accusing any reviewer of being biased, paid off, etc. I'm just raising the question, how can 3 reviewed games in a row, all PS3 exclusives, have such contrasting scores from one reviewer to the next? It's a completely fair question imo. Of course they're not going to affect my opinion on the games. Regardless I'm still going to try them out on my own before I form my own opinion. However they do affect public perception of the machine and that's what concerns me the most.

The fact is there ARE people out there that HATE the PS3. And they will give a subpar review to stick it to PS3 fans. I am not saying all negative reviews are from this at all. I am saying it is just something to consider because it does exist. Hence why I used the words "some" and "maybe"..

You also have to look at the individual reviewers not just the magazine. A magazine could be all over the place. Given that the SCORE has an incredible influence on how many copies are sold..it would only make sense it's the most susceptible to being manipulated by outside influence - given it's importance to having a "hit" or preventing the competition from having one.

If you feel comfortable with a particular reviewer matching your experience of previous games then I would stick to those ones as much as possible, demos, friends etc and looking at the history of the developers involved as well.

That's not the issue. It's not the majority of people. It's a very small group of key influencers that are easily targeted with all sorts of incentives that effect the majority of people.

Not if they are different reviewers.

Lol I knew that would make someone mad.. but I meant it. I did not like it at all. Fighting enemies was really easy and boring.. the only hard thing about the game was figuring out wtf to do half the time. This was annoying more than hard. Just my opinion though. The game had cool elements like climbing walls and when the first boss would follow you through the first level. It had a lot of cool ideas but to me it just did not save the game from mediocre fighting. Again.. just imo. But lets not jack this thread with GoW talk I shouldnt have said that to start with

Actually magazines, etc, have little affect on game sales. Why is this? Look at the sales of gaming magazines, they are pitifull compared the number of people who own consoles. The fact is that the vast majority of gamers buy a game based on what they see on the shelves. How else do you explain the number of movie tie ins that hit the number 1 spot? Some gamers just aren't interested in researching first, they buy something because they like the cover and believe what it says on the back.

My next game is Warhawk. I love the way Sword looks, but I'm not convinced about the gameplay enough to buy it.

Hm. I dont think most games are sold by people just walking in and buying what looks cool.

I think most gamers buy games based on forums, trailers, hype, and what their friends have or recommend. Magazines play little part.. but they do effect what people post on forums as you see here.

It's not just about magazine sales - it's about the subsequent usage of 10/10 on the game publishers advertising campaign. How many movies have people decided to see or not see based on the directions of thumbs?

A single person also influences others by saying I'm right because so and so said it was etc..word of mouth is powerful and more believable with external confirmation.

not really...look at the box office

most movies make money based on good reviews and word of mouth

not just if the movie looks cool

like myself, before i go to a movie, i check rottentomatoes.com for the reviews and if the movie is fresh, then im gonna go see it

most people dont just buy games cuz it looks "cool"

$60 bucks is a big investment and most people arent just going to make a blind buy

I am speechless that you can not even understand why someone may not like the game. I can certainly understand why someone would like the game I just do not prefer the game myself. No, I am not a girl and I love beating things to a pulp in a video game.. but this alone does not sell me on a game. Again.. no hating here I just thought the game was weak in areas that ruined it for me personally. I noted it has it's strong points. Heavenly Sword would certainly not be the same without it as well.
