Is it on the nose though? The super terrorist plot and Nazi links are taken directly from the comic and was well before Trump. If anything Ennis was reflecting on a post 9/11 America. The fact it's so on point now is just kind of sad and frightening.

Amazon recently put up their adaptation of Utopia. It was made before anyone even heard of COVID but couldn't be more on point with it's deep state pandemic storyline and yet the parallel with real world events is total coincidence and another case of life imitating art. The show is shite though.

They showed all of his face in one of the aftershows. Definitely not a Homelander clone.

If it's not on point, it's a pretty good coincidence. TV has been constantly bombarding people with this sort of thing for a few years now. It only seems naturally that folks will get sick of seeing it. I found it amusing personally BUT it could easily be looked at as a 2020 Trump thing. I'm not fond of dating things like that.

It was still a fun episode. Though, I'm starting to think Hughie has run his course as a character and needs to go. He's become such a whiny fool.

Hughie is just there to "center" the characters and bring them back from the brink of madness. He's the "normal" one.

I just watched all of DS9 and it had similar themes. It is topical and easy to reference. The situation has not changed just the faces of the people involved in it.

These themes are not limited to being a "2020 Trump thing". Fascism is constantly trying to rear it's ugly head. I grew up surrounded by white-supremist scumbags during the 80s and 90s and there's no way it began just then. These themes have been relevant long before Trump and will remain so long after, unfortunately.
