Has everyone suddenly forgotten that Paul W.S. Anderson is one of the worst directors of all time?! I wouldn't trust him to direct a school nativity.

He's perfectly fine for a live-action Monster Hunter adaptation. I think we all know what we're getting from a Paul W.S. Anderson film at this point.

Yeah exactly, he knows how to shoot and stage action and manages to make fairly impressive movies visually for what could be considered modest budgets. Plus he's been a great advocate for 3D.

I agree, and I'm not ashamed to admit I like quite a few of his films. I mean, Event Horizon is a even a sort of B-list semi-classic.
I don't have an answer in my head, but he must be up there high in the top ten as the director who's made the most 3D movies (several native too)? Even if I wish the 3D was generally a bit more potent in them, he's definitely earned his place in the "3D Directors' Hall of Fame", if they ever open one (which they won't, obviously).

Hopefully this will get a NA 3D theatrical release but right now who knows? Not holding my breath on a 3D disc cause it’s a non Marvel movie from Sony.

Didnt see Black Widow 3D listed ..hear something about a cancel?

or..

Is it being replaced by a THANOS stand alone 3D movie?

They are a bunch of dorks, but Thanos was the shizzee. Best villain in superhero history. Best father. Best opponent. Best problem solver. Best mono log repeated before every combat..

As the Variety article points out, The Batman is also slated for that date (October 21, 2021) so that means The Batman will get moved at some point. Some are speculating that it will probably get pushed back to 2022.

Instead of stalling the whole industry, go direct to video.

The virus is getting worse not better. Theaters are closed or not showing 3D. Im friggin bored in isolation.

check your local multiplex. Mine is a Carmax now.

More pain for the cinema industry - Pixar's 'Soul' is moving to Disney+ and showing on Christmas Day. There's no premium to pay this time. Territories without DP will get a theatrical release so here's hoping for a physical 3-D Blu-ray somewhere...

All eyes now on The Croods: A New Age and Wonder Woman 1984 which remain the only major releases left in 2020.

Black Widow and Eternals are instant buys. Marvel are the kings of 3D.
Other than that, probably Dune.

It's a bummer, but no surprise about Soul being moved to Disney+. The Croods just got moved up to Thanksgiving from Christmas a couple weeks ago, so I expect it to keep its theatrical date. Wonder Woman most likely gets delayed again. I think we will see The Croods: A New Age and Monster Hunter in 3D in theaters this year.

I hope so. Thanks.

Croods 1 has high medium to strong 3D with some nice pop outs, so I'm hoping the same for Croods 2 3D if it plays in theaters, which I'll support in theaters.

Hopefully Monster Hunter has a 3D conversion and not a weak one as with Final Chapter 3D IMO. But considering the editor from the last film and Anderson the director are said to be working together again after Resident Evil Final Chapter and it's horrible fast editing, I'm not hopeful at all for it.

More bad news for cinemas (and physical media consumers) as Disney appears to be moving even more strongly towards streaming...

Over the Moon from Netflix and Pearl Studio is now playing in 3D theaters in China. Most likely a native 3D rendering, assisted by Sony Pictures Imageworks.

Also opening in China, a 3D conversion of a 2018 French film, A Breath Away. COVID exploitation?

Just a Breath Away was a really good movie but there's a only a few scenes that I think would have really cool 3D.
