so n-95 type masks are more important when at the gym. That's where I wear mine.

well he’s not leaving a hospital and going ‘home’ in the traditional sense of the word as many of us would without fanfare….in essence, given the quality and availability of the staffing and equipment, he’s going to a step-down unit (https://www0.gsb.columbia.edu/mygsb/...s/19222/cc.pdf ) just in the White House rather than located in another ward

oh, how but many would give to have someone like - https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/prof...rian-garibaldi
(with his research interests as a bonus) on site at their residence and/or on 24 hr. call at a moment’s notice

Correct. His "leaving the hospital and going home" is more like returning to a live-in hospital. It's not like you or me returning home.

Remember that he's had a staff of at least 13 doctors treating him, combined with a unique combination of cutting-edge treatments - basically a cocktail that few if anybody has ever received as a COVID treatment together. It's no surprise he's responding well. I doubt any of us could afford or get that kind of care.

Also keep in mind that some of his treatments can cause a "high" according to doctors; a feeling of being invincible. He's still infected and contagious and will be for a while yet. And that "I feel better than I did 20 years ago!" high will come down when he's off treatment. Then we'll see how he's doing.

Well, a daily average of 2,000 to 2,500 new cases and an average of probably 10 deaths per day ain't great but it ain't really too awful yet either. Things will probably get worse at some point, sure. But then there will be tighter restrictions again which, I think, every reasonable person expected for fall and winter anyways. As a matter of fact I think there should be tighter restrictions now already preemptively with winter in mind.

Agreed. I laugh when I hear him downplaying the severity of the virus & acting like his experience with this is the same as anyone else's experience would be if they contracted Covid. Obviously, John/Jane Q. Public don't have the money/resources to get treated like he's being treated/looked after. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a fool.

But he's 74 years old and is overweight, so he is still quite vulnerable to this disease. I'm pretty amazed at how he is supposedly recovering so well.

He was really struggling with breathing when he took off the mask last night and a lot of people tend to get worse after they think they were getting better so he is still far from clear regardless of what treatment they give him.

I think that really sends the wrong message as it trivializes the disease (e.g. interviewing Dr. Fauci, this morning - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fifq..._title#t=5m22s).

For some current perspective, it’s been reported that over 1,400 people in the U.S. died of COVID-19 during the time the patient was admitted at Walter Reed. If not ‘afraid’, I think people certainly should be respectful of the danger coronavirus poses to themselves, their families and society in general and thusly abide, even being fastidious to, public health guidelines. Same thing goes for things like high blood pressure. You may feel just fine, even great, running around with hypertension and not taking your meds…..until you have a stroke. With high blood pressure, you have time, not so much if you acquire COVID-19 and are one of the less fortunate.

P.S.
First my sister-in-law afflicted months ago, now, my brother-in-law who is in his late 40’s (possessing no comorbidities), a manager at a restaurant in Chicago, where apparently they have/had indoor dining now is in the ICU on a vent (after O2 sat dropped quickly into the 70’s) at a local hospital there.

Just finished listening to a joint presentation from the U of WA and Johns Hopkins with Drs. Fauci, Slaoui, and Corey, along with other Drs. and panelists. Main takeaway is that, they believe, in order to ensure a safe and effective vaccine, it will take into next year quarter 1 or quarter 2 at the earliest to complete the studies and then they have to still figure out how to manufacture it for global distribution.
