I would order this from Wow but a bit hesitant as the last Paramount/CBS Blu Ray that I imported ended up being Region Locked.

Jonathan Frakes has directed a couple of episodes of “The Orville”.

Usually all the Star Trek Blu-rays are region free, mine is on its way so will report back arm it arrives.

Unusual for the latest Paramounts to be region locked.

That's what I thought, it was Instant Family. Ever since I have been dubious of importing Paramount releases.

Braga is Exec on the shoot, too...point is, Orville is the Trek we all love and makes a little bit of fun on the tropes, and despite the goofball comedy, it's better Trek than anything since the late 90's.

As I said, been there - done that. Trek needs to evolve, not recycle the same stale tropes that were worn out by TNG's 7th season. Imagine if TNG was just TOS continued. Would not have worked - and you saw declining viewership during Voyager. No matter how many extra abilities they graft onto Issacs's head (He's got guns! They fly like drones now!) it feels all too familiar, and that is a *bad* thing. Orville's been shunted to Hulu and in production because of a tax credit (seriously, look it up). You have to wonder if they will renew it.

DSC and PIC's next seasons are in production.

They already announced that The Orville is cancelled after season 3 on Hulu.

Ok, didn't realize after the "news" came out there was some dispute over it with denials from some parties and other evidence supporting it. So, i guess its unclear now. Although being dropped by your network and offloaded to Hulu was never a good sign. I like the Orville quite a bit and would love for it to continue, but odds are against it.

Not that I want to turn this into an Orville thread but it wasn't dropped by it's network and offloaded, it was a conscious decision by McFarlane.

According to one of the producers it's the first he's heard the show is ending.

I still can't believe The Orville manages to do what Kurtzman Trek has so far failed to do which is make actual Star Trek and understand its franchise.

Does Trek need to evolve? If I'm a shark, and I'm damn good at eating anything dumb enough to bleed near me, do I need to evolve? Or just be a shark? Let Trek be Trek. Let it eat. It doesn't need to turn into something else. Someone famous once said no one in entertainment ever went broke giving people what they want. People do go broke trying to sell stuff no one wants. Or singing frogs. That doesn't work out, either.

Yeah, but sharks need to keep moving or they die. if you stay in the same place too long you grow moldy and the singing frogs need to move.

Lol...

Seriously, though, not saying Trek can't do something different and change, but to quote Contact...small moves, Ellie. Don't go full on system shock. Don't put the frog into a boiling pot. Turn up the temp over time. Kurtzman Trek went into full boil, and the fan base reacted accordingly. Play the music your fans showed up for in the first place.

If Star Trek followed the rinse and repeat mode, then Deep Space Nine wouldn't exist. I don't think they should worry too much about the fans and make what they want. The internet has made people think all of their whims should be important. Let artists do what they want and not listen to the peanut gallery crying on Twitter about something not being exactly the same thing as before. I bet if The Orville was made under Star Trek banner you would have a ton of people crying that its too much like the old stuff and try something new. Fanbase's are never happy and will never be happy.

Truth. But the peanut gallery are the people buying the peanuts, right?

My local best buy had plenty of copies. Disappointed with the slimmer case and weak slip when compared to the discovery releases which were like 10 bucks cheaper too.

Seems to me Secret Hideout understands TREK just fine.
Question is: do you understand TREK. Have you watched the new shows all the way through? Do you also understand they're not supposed to be TNG.

TOS to TNG to DS9 is very different TREK. So which one is the new shows supposed to ape? We're in a post Battlestar Galactica / Game of Thrones / Sopranos /Walking Dead era in television fantasy/sci-fi/drama. TNG reflected the late '80s & early '90s. I don't see why you insist the new shows reflect that too.
