Apparently, they got pulled to be updated or sumpin'; they worked earlier.

The Amazon link still works, but Amazon is not showing a release date. Amazon is showing a pre-order price of $89.99.

https://www.amazon.com/The-Lord-of-t...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

There's a gift set, too, for $139.99; just $50 more and you get the One Ring To Rule Them All.

No, but you will pay in the $$$Hundreds for 4K Box and Gift Sets. I guess you guys are lucky to have Deep Pockets for your Disc Collection needs!

All you will find in my pockets is lint.

It's just that when I do spend money, I like to actually have something to show for it. I'm funny like that.

I very much doubt that you would spend $29.99 for an EST title, either. You will just wait for someone to sell the digital code from their disc purchase like you usually do.

Some of my favorite box sets

Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here

Pink Floyd The Latter Years

Pink Floyd The Early Years

I’m so lucky Pink Floyd still believes in physical media!

And I’ve got deep enough pockets for the things I love.

Did some more testing regarding the Oppo 203 HDMI Input set to passthrough and this time it did work with some sources. The 203 HDMI Out (Main) to projector and HDMI Out (Audio Only) to Yamaha CX-A5100 AVP. The sources were Nivida Shield Pro 2019 and Roku Ultra 2019, the content was Star Wars Episode II - Attack Of The Clones in UHD with Atmos audio. The providers were Disney+, MoviesAnywhere and Vudu.

Nivida
Disney+ ● did not try as it only does Dolby Digital+ sound when connected direct to the AVP
MoviesAnywhere ● movie would not play and displayed error message
Vudu ● movie played with Atmos sound

Roku
Disney+ ● movie played with Dolby Digital+ sound
MoviesAnywhere ● movie played with Dolby Digital+ sound
Vudu ● movie played with Atmos sound

With the Nivida and Roku connected to the AVP the movie played with Atmos sound from both devices and all services except Nvidia and Disney+.

Preordered the hobbit and Lord of the Rings UHD.

So excited to be getting those. And GoT. So many Dragons.

Since Lee posted that top 50 list I’ve been watching them from 50.

It’s a great time to have a home theater.

I'm going to wait for the Middle Earth set with new bonus features being released next summer. Hopefully I won't need a second mortgage to afford it.

I am not sure how I am going to play this one. I am definitely picking them up, but don’t know if I will wait it out.

Luck may not have anything to do with how one came by their disposable income. The internet, disc, TV’s, etc. are not necessary to lead a satisfying life. I have visited successful communities that had no commercial power, no autos, no tractors, etc. That lifestyle is not for me but I admire those that do.

Before I have too many more birthdays I hope to acquire a JVC DLA-RS3000 (a.k.a. DLA-NX9) video projector and a Lumagen Radiance Pro UltraHD Series video processor. I am debating between a DIY media server using a Synology DS1819+ 8 Bay NAS with 8 Seagate 16TB HDD’s (running Zappiti software) or a Zappiti NAS. If Zappiti comes out with a new version of the Zappiti One SE 4K HDR then I will procure one of those.

The means to do this was done with many years of sacrifice, very long days of extra work, good investments, being ones own auto mechanic, electrician, plumber, builder, carpentered, etc.

Have the 3 Hobbit's in 3D so will pass on those, will review the LOTR's and decide. Will add GoT to the collection.

This is just for fun. Couldn't think of a better thread to put this in, so I thought... meh, I'll drop it here.

With some obvious overlap, these are the years each format reigned supreme in my households, from childhood until the present...

1983-1990: VHS
1990-1997: LaserDisc
1997-2007: DVD
2007-2017: Blu-ray
2018-present: UHD

Blu-ray has the edge on reigning the longest, I think, since it's still going strong into the UHD era. I find "Blu-rays in the age of 4K" much more acceptable than DVDs were in the age of Blu-ray. However, I do still have about five DVD titles remaining in my collection (when oh when is Criterion going to upgrade Unbearable Lightness of Being???), so maybe the DVD era has the edge.

.
Good stuff.

My video server needs are rapidly shrinking as I’ve gone back to using the discs directly.

I still have some NAS units for backing up the family computers.

And, my music server is newly reborn recently and I’m loving that.

My family uses Apple Music but I have a lot of my own music including lots of high res audio and having a home audio only server is terrific.

I’m reorganizing and I’ve gone from 5 NAS units to 2.

I guess I’ll have lots of NAS hard Drives for eventual use.

Similar for me:

1983-1997: Beta Hi-Fi
1984-2002: LaserDisc
1987-1997: VHS Hi-Fi
1997-2006: DVD (still used)
2001-2006: D-VHS D-Theater (still used on occasion)
2006-present: Blu-ray
2014-2016: Sony UHD media player
2016-present: UHD Blu-ray

My old Synology is still going strong as data storage, backup and media server. I may or may not setup a large media server as I have no problem using disc for movies. I do like having all my CD's ripped to the media server.

And let's not forget that 5.1 audio showed up on television around the 1994-95 tv season. So, as best as I can remember surround audio has been around at least for my area for at least 22 years.

I know what you mean that luxury items are not necessary for a happy life, but in our little world of Movies and Entertainment we want to enjoy the best experience. So we setup priorities for our disposable income. I too worked hard for a successful career, life takes some turns stayed with the Phone Company and Retired with a good buy-out. So even though my pockets aren't deep, I have enough to enjoy my Entertainment of Movies and TV Shows.

I see that you want the best in Picture and Sound Quality, and that JVC Projector is good. Sound and Vision just reviewed a $20K Sony LCOS. With the Zappiti Server, your HT will be better than the struggling Cinemas. I think this is the direction we are headed!
