Well atleast we know the Others built the statue a long time ago.. but why was it destroyed?

Oh, I see it! If you look closely you can see a Dharma logo embossed on the sandal, so they must have gone back in time, built the statue and later CW tore it down with his horse!

I'm more interested to see when Claire will return. It's been a long time since we've seen her, I actually believe she's dead most of the time lol.

I see the dog under the smoke monster too but I think it might be a coincidence but you never know.

Just like if you take the dog as being significant, then you also have to take the snakes into consideration as well.

Haha...maybe during the same brief time flash when Sawyer, Juliet & co. could see the statue, Vincent time-flashed in front of the ancient others and the smoke monster, then he time-flashed and disappeared. The ancient others took it as a sign from the gods and have worshipped Vincent ever since.

I just figured that whoever built the temple also built the statue. And since the Others are protected by the Temple and control its "Monster" and are the indegenious people of the island I only put two-and-two together. Could be wrong.

The Temple and ol' Four-Toes seem to be from the same time era, only the Temple still stands (we assume.. we've only seen the walls).. both are seemingly of Egyptian origin. I dunno.. maybe there used to be 2 groups of native people - those of the statue and those of the Temple (Monster vs. Four-Toes).

We do not know for a fact that The Others are the indegenious people of the island or that they created the temple.

I don't believe that Ben (The Others) control the monster as much as he can summon it.

Depends on how you look at it. We would have to go back 7000 years to match his 1000 year regression in time. Puppy at 1000AD, baby at 5000BC, both live a long time. Year 2000, give or take, the dog is equivalent to 7000 years old, the baby is now a 7000 year old RA.

To me the temple looks more like a Mayan ruin than an Egyptian structure. It is pure speculation to think that both the temple and ol' Four-Toes were built in the same time period but they could be. However a small contingent of people on an island would probably not last for so many centuries of time, not enough population mix. That would lead to mothers dying during childbirth, people with dark eyes! So I tend to think that there have been many different groups inhabiting the island throughout the years.

I will give you credit that Stephie referred to the ancient ones as 'others' and she chooses her words carefully. However even the DI called them Hostiles, I think the 'Others' was coined by Locke in his famous beach speech "we all know there are others on this island".

Well I was of the idea that she is actually dead... last weekend I rewatched those episodes in season 4 and now I am convinced Claire didn't make it after the explosion... either she died and resurrected or they were seeing her ghost... there are several clues in the episodes pointing at something wrong with her... and the key is Miles, who we know can speak to the dead...

When Sawyer brings Claire to Ben's house after the explosion and she 'recovers', she goes into the living room where they ask her how she feels, she answers something like "I'll live", Miles looks at her and answers "I wouldn't be so sure about that" (or something like that)

In the next episode when Sawyer, Claire, Aaron and Miles go through the jungle, Miles is always looking at Claire as if he were stranged, he even offers to help her with Aaron and Sawyer puts a restraining order on him... at one point Claire mentions she feels better and that 'at least i am not seeing things anymore'... Miles asks what she was seeing and Sawyer shuts him down again... when Claire dissappears that night with Christian, it is Miles who tells Sawyer he saw her left with "her dad"...

Episodes are "The shape of things to come" and "Something nice back home"
