I have a soft spot for the super hero movies as I was obsessed with DC and Marvel as a kid. I love most genres of film but I must admit, when that Marvel fanfare music kicks in at the cinema when we get back, I will feel emotional. Hopefully 3D will still be a option at home when they finally get released on disc.

agree plus his point does not make much sense.

I can understand I am not into super hero movies but this is not a super hero movie.

I can understand if someone says I am not into video game films but this was not that either.

It is a dystopian film with a happy ending where part of the film happens in a virtual world.

if we focus more on a bad synopsis ("guy in virtual gaming world") and forget the plot the closest would be Tron, if we focus more on the story and forget the virtual world is a "game" it would be Matrix.

This film is based on a Science Fiction novel. Then you make this let’s get back to good story telling which is one of the films strengths. But after I post the comment about the sequel you just had to tell us you don’t like super hero and game movies. So yes you pretended.

Ready Player One may be a digital extravaganza, but it's all Spielberg and all heart. The film's superficialities deliver spectacular entertainment with endless winks and nods to popular culture, but the film's center is an unassuming and quiet old man whose regrets, and the understanding of life he gained from them, truly propel the story. This is exactly the sort of narrative depth and digital opulence that has driven PIXAR to the top of the film industry.

I preordered Hobbit and LOTR and got Jurassic Park 5 disc set for free. That is a crazy deal. There are some single titles I need to pickup, but wanted to grab The big ones first.

I grabbed War of the Worlds, Man of Steel, and preordered Collateral. V For Vendetta or District 9 did not qualify though. A lot of their prices were higher than Amazon, but there are some good deals to be had.

And yes, just in case anybody is wondering, Ready Player 1 does qualify.

I must resist such temptations or I will never get my AVR replaced.

Not to worry, though. There will always be another great sales event.

I burned a hole through my CC today on that Target sale and when I thought it was done, Amazon has their Buy 3 for the price of 2 and I snagged a couple of titles from that one, too.

Beware the early season impulses, this was from me last Black Friday.

Found a few copies of the Jurassic 1-4 UHD set for $19.95 at BB locally, grabbed one. Ahh but real find online was Target has a price buster of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom UHD for $9.00 thru Saturday. Plenty of that in stock, BB it was $14.99.
Sweet Deal.
So I paid $28.95 for all five Jurassic 4K films. Compare to the $73.99 @ Target for 5 UHD set.

The Lord of Rings/Hobbit 4K sets are 12/1 so I see both at about list $89.99 @ Target.

Tempting, but BB usually heavily discount sets, but both are gotta have it indulges just after BF.

Happy indigenous peoples day,

I’m watching the Revenant and I’m convinced my system has never ever looked or sounded better. This has my vote for best way to show off or just enjoy a home theater

The Revenant was the first 4K disc that I bought and watched. It was a wonderful introduction to the 4K disc format. A great movie and gloriously presented, too.

The Revenant 4K is both beautiful and brutal at the same time. Love that movie. I am watching 300 on 4K this afternoon, and early reviews are the Atmos track on it is reference quality.

The brutality of the movie is a good point; it is definitely not a suitable demo disc for all audiences.

With that in mind, which movies on 4K disc are both demo worthy AND family friendly, considering both animated and non-animated fare?
