Not much there, really.

I think we all know something's brewing and they're just trying to cool off the fires a little bit.

"Meanwhile, Warner has announced that Dorinda Marticorena will take on Nickerson's previous role as senior VP of high-def. Currently VP of kids and sports marketing at Warner Home Video, the studio says Marticorena will contine Nickerson's efforts to promote the mainstream adoption of both high-def formats."

I'm reasonably encouraged. Time will tell (forgive the pun).

Same here--
Nothing big, just that MS couldn't pay off their TotalHD losses...So the Total exec goes, the studios shift back to separate dual releases, and they don't have to bother with making a big easily misinterpretable headline about refusing MS in public.

I'm not. It's a completely neutral piece of corporate PR. There's nothing up or down to take from any of this until we see results.

Sounds like the last VP was canned because he refused to support "both formats" being the HD DVD advocate he was. Could be great news.

exactly. look how paramount did a 180. even while blessing blu-ray discs with golden transfers. their blades of glory disc was to be a beaut. their actions communicated commitment. (as did their words) but oh how easily that changed. in business, you have to be as careful as you can be to keep the people you're serving pacified. its all sugarcoated 'til a deal is made then bam! they hit you between the eyes with news regarding a decision. no announcements are made until a decision is made. neutrality is simply maintaining what already exists. wb could remain neutral or they could go either way. today or monday or a year from now. until an announcement is made, its all speculation. just keep buying WB BD's. at Wal-Mart.

Next Friday I'll be ordering Training Day and when some future releases that interest me become available for preorder I'll purchase them.

After Months of good news for blu, everyone seems too edgy for me right now. One bit of news comes out and everyone is reading way too much into it.

Warner is the only smart studio at the moment. They release movies on both formats, but they didn't release a few on Blu that they did on HD-DVD, yes we all know which ones! The Departed and 300 sales have shown them which HD format is the best, so why is everyone thinking they are going to switch? They would be dumb to, they have income from HD, Blu, and DVD, if I was a head at a studio, I would do the same!

I think we all need to take the Weekend off, drink some Beers and watch some Blu-ray, and calm down, God at the drop of a Hat it seems like we are losing around here, there is too much negativity, yeah we got blindsided, but it really is not that big a deal!

Here's to next week and for me Sep 18, Oct 23rd, Nov 6th, and Dec 4th after those days I may have to file for Chapter 11!

At this point no news is good news. If they were planning on switching they would probably have done it already. They are probably seeing the reactions from everyone and realizing that we will probably flock to stores and buy their movies. Til we hear something we are only guessing

Yeah nothing new but VERY interesting for BD fans. What a strange quote from Universal?? And an Micro$oft HD-DVD kingpin trying to apply for a media pass from Disney!! And he's me thinking he knew it all!

Although it is a BD site, Scott Hettrick is usually always on the right vibes.

Look at the releases. Has blu ray got one favorable release over HD DVD? Not that I can think of. Has HD DVD... yup. This could all come down to Mr. WB HD DVD wanted HD DVD exclusivity and didnt get it.
