It appears the laserdisc had a music and effects track, not an isolated score.

The 40th anniversary vinyl is a transfer of the original mono film music stem presented in chronological order. Sounds pretty fantastic to me, some people don't know this. It's not a remix or new performance.

Put it on a CD and I'm there, but I'd rather have even dialogue and remixing over snap, crackles and pops. (*shudder*)

Sorry, my hatred for the resurgence of vinyl (and, really, any contact playback method) runs deep in my marrow, so I’m not the guy to pitch that line to.

It's nothing to pitch, an undamaged record free of defects can be noiseless to virtually noiseless. Popping and crackling is either from damage, debris, or sloppy production of the product. (like, you know, skipping CDs) The assertion you're going to get a defect that's demonstrably not always there is kinda silly. I don't really care if you buy records or not, in any case.

As great a read that article is (not new, I've read it a bunch myself and it makes for great discussion), I mean, I wasn't making an argument about any format being better so that's besides the point. Noisy records are a product of defects or damage.

Furtherrrrrr I myself don't really care about the format war, some things are just neat. Like Blu-ray discs!

Preordered that sweet steelbook on Best Buy’s website but I guess they oversold their allotment because they ended up cancelling the order. Went to Best Buy Tuesday morning to pick up BTTF since my $10 Gruv order hadn’t shipped yet. They had one copy of the Halloween steelbook.

I just finished this tonight and no complaints from my view.

You mean the 20th Anniversary release with the dialogue snippets? I have that and I do like it. My only problem with it is the main title track sounds weird. It wasn’t mixed very well. I ripped the main title music from the Blu-ray which sounds much better to me. Better placement of the instruments.

You’re talking about label #VSD 5970, whereas he was, to my mind, talking about label #VCD 47230.

Well in that case, yes, the original CD sounds much better. I wish they’d re-release it without the techno drum beat that was added to the main theme.
