I've noticed that there was a new release of series 1 and 2 via Nameless. There are unboxing videos on YouTube.

Does anyone have these new releases? Do they carry over all of the extras from the Anchor Bay DVDs. I ask as the back of the media books list a lot of extras but not all. In particular, I didn't see the John Carpenter commentary track from Cigarette Burns.

Cigarette Burns contain english\german audio and two audio commentary.

Be careful. I don't have the Nameless release, but I got all the Splendid season 2 discs and they're 1080i/25fps, which is weird 'cause their Black Edition releases are 1080p/23.976fps. I checked the audio, and the pitch hasn't been corrected for the speed-up. I contacted Nameless to get some specs on their release, and they referred me to Splendid. There's a bit of a language barrier there, but my understanding is that they're releasing the Splendid discs in their own packaging. I still haven't heard any confirmation on this though. I did watch one unboxing video, but the guy didn't mention it. By the way, the covers of the Splendid releases say 1080p, so if that's on the Nameless release, it isn't necessarily correct. If anyone does pick it up, there are a few of us over in the Wish Lists forum who would really appreciate a confirmation.

I can't verify about the Nameless discs being 1080i/25fps or not, however, reading this thread: http://www.dvdcompare.net/forums/php...hp?f=9&t=36236 it appears that they aren't the same discs as the Splendid ones. Several of the episodes have different runtimes between the two sets.

Looks like the Nameless release is uncensored. But unfortunately, we now have confirmation that it's 1080i/25fps. It's there towards the top of the page, where it says "1080i 50." I've been calling it 25 fps, but I guess technically it's 50 fps because of the interlacing. Anyways, I was hoping season 2 might be different, but there's a link to that season, and it too is 1080i/50.

Region B locked, so not compatible. And if I remember correctly, only certain US players can play 1080i/50.

Is video/audio quality the very same, or is there an improvement?

I haven't seen any reviews or comparisons, so I'm not sure. Everything seems okay to me (aside from the pitch shift in the audio of course), but I don't have the Nameless release, so I'm comparing AB season 1 to Splendid season 2. And to be honest, I haven't watched much of AB season 1.

So would you say that, pitch shift aside, Anchor Bay 1 and Splendid 2 are equivalent, picture quality wise?

I'm not sure. All I can say is that nothing stood out to me as significantly problematic in either season.

I've been following all the MOH threads, and I don't think anyone's bought the Nameless set yet. I have the season 2 set from Splendid. If memory serves, I was told by Splendid that they're the same discs, but then it was discovered over on dvdcompare.net that Nameless is uncensored while Splendid is censored. So I'm not sure what to think. Anyways, I watched a couple episodes of Splendid's season 2 set, and they looked fine to me. You can check out the caps I referenced a few posts back. But the Nameless release is still a bit of a mystery. For me, being 1080i/50 makes it a no-go.

Not to drag this thread back up, but the only way to get a proper blu-ray release of the complete series is to track down the original bust collectors set?

I don't think I was previously aware of it, and I don't know how it matches up to the bust set. It's Splendid, so I'm assuming it's censored though. If you look at the Amazon.de listing, some of the reviews say it's "geschnitten" (cut). And there's the whole 1080/50 issue. So I guess it boils down to what you mean by a "proper" release.
