I have to ask. I see most of the people here saying there going to wait for the Extended Editions.

Are you guys seriously going to wait 2 to 3 more years on the EE movies when the standards come out?

When everybody's been b****ing (including myself) on when there going to come out for the past 4 years

This is gonna be tough for me to pass up but I need me some extended editions so I'll stick with my SD versions. Is anybody else disappointed by the way LOTR looks upconverted? Maybe its just that I am expecting too much.

Compared to the other movies out there. Besides Star Wars Ep. 2 and 3 the LotR movies look good. ROTK looking the best

Yep I'll happily wait as long as it takes for the EE's, and won't watch the theatricals. There's plenty of other movies to watch in the meantime, I don't mind when they come out. But it will be a sweet day when I sit down with my popcorn to watch the EEs on bluey.

Absolutely going to wait

I will give the TE a rent no doubt, but seems a waste of money IMO to buy these considering the real versions (IMO) will be out at some point in the next 2-3 years. If I ever need a fix, I can Netflix these

As far as LOTR goes, short and sweet does it for me. I'm gettin' these mothers the day they come out. And then I'll probably buy the EE's to. They'll most assuredly have something besides the extra footage included in that package as well making it worth my money.

Return Of The King looks absolutely fantastic upconverted. Very nearly on Blu-Ray's level. Not quite though. Nothing beats actual Blu quality

I've been trying to hold off on watching it on DVD/TV once the blu-rays were rumored to be coming this year. It's tough to hold out though especially when I see it playing on TV and end up really wanting to watch it.

I'll be buying these for sure. And the extended editions as well. Like someone else said on here. We have been waiting for LOTR on blu ray for a while now, and it's finally here. I don't care what version it is.

I agree "King" looks quite good on SD DVD (and on my Oppo BDP-83). However, even the pan and scanned HD broadcast looked much better. I'm sure the BD will be even better.

I bet a lot of people will change their minds once we get near the release date and the surely great reviews come in.

I am sick and tired of hearing people ***** about the SE vs EE. Dont want the SE? Leave the damn thread already, there are lot of people who dont want to hear your high horsed shiat about how better the EE edition. When it releases, by all means get it but in the meantime, let those who enjoy the SE rejoice at the latest news.
