Alchav is over it so we have to move on.
For some content like Game of Thrones, the UHD BD is higher quality than the original broadcast and any streaming that came after. It’s the highest quality presentation available but Alchav says we need to move on and that means accepting second rate quality. Why should I be over it ? I understand he’s over it but I still think it’s the best quality we have had at home to date and I am still in the discovery phase so far from the I’m over this phase. |

Will we miss constant posting of sales data?
I won’t.. I know that data must matter but it doesn’t ever seem to matter to me. There’s plenty of new UHDBD releases regardless of how streaming is doing financially. My Game of Thrones set arrives on Thursday, can not wait but I must. Last edited by bhampton; 10-30-2020 at 01:55 PM. |

Anyway this is an endless debate until the studios stop selling bluray/dvd/4k discs.
When the studios, see no more CASH COW flow on discs, they will stop producing discs. The time is still unknow. Anyway, CASH is driving the movie industry. That s all. Studio will find other ways to cash out money from our pockets. |

And it's still worth it. I'm not going anywhere. They could double it and it would still be beyond worth it. Content is king and they are the kings of content. Now if folks don't or are unaware of how to maximize their viewing potential then that's on them. |

Over the course of my time here at Blu-ray.com, I've found myself collecting BDs and DVDs to the point where 99% of my movies get watched once and then collect dust on the shelf. And since I run out of shelf space easily due to living in an apartment, I learned that it's not practical to keep buying physical copies. And when I decide to sell some of my BDs, they sell for chump money. Considering the trouble it takes to sell BDs on eBay and the little profit I make from them, it usually is not worth selling them and just let them either continue collecting dust or just throw them away. I hate doing the latter. If I could find a friend or neighbor that wants it for free, I'd be glad to give it to them as I'd much rather do that than throw something out. But I personally don't know anyone that collects physical media anymore. Most people I know either watch sports, play video games, or don't watch TV at all. I don't know many movie buffs.
If collecting movies had any value, I'd continue buying physical copies as I could always sell them for a big profit later on if I don't want it. But that usually is not the case anymore. Movies have little to no value now, so that's why I don't buy physical copies that much anymore. Heck, I even tried selling my "Band of Brothers" BD on eBay a few weeks ago for a measly $15 and didn't get a single bid. Relisted a second time and still no luck! |

If what you were saying was a wide occurrence you wouldn’t have a film industry, nor hundreds of millions signing up for Netflix Disney, Hulu, Amazon etc.. Or for matter, you wouldn’t have films making over a billion at cinemas. You have fell out of love with film, I won’t be doing that, ever. I bought my discs knowing there wasn’t any sell on value. That’s not what collecting is about to me. |

I agree about it having to be core. What sucks is that there's a large number of folks that have OCD and it's just the compulsion of collecting that drives them, not the love of film. |

You can be both. I have close to a thousand discs all stored in a spare room. The rest of my home is neat and tidy. Heck, my storage room is neat and tidy. Two large cabinets with discs organised by genre.
If minimalism is more important to you than film, you were no big film fan to start with anyway. |
