Thumbs down Panasonic DMP-BD35 and The Spirit

I had problems playing this Blu-ray movie, even though my Firmware was updated to 1.8. I think it had something to do with BD-Live, and having a good Internet Connection. These Blu-ray movies are getting harder and harder to play, no wonder people make Back-up software to take all the junk off and just play the movie. If the Motion Picture Industry doesn't wake up they will also lose in this new format.

What happened with the movie? did it play and then stop? did the audio/video go out and come back? i don't have mine connected to the Internet so maybe that is the issue. Let me know.

Don't get frustrated in this way ,tell me how much of new customers they are going to connect their players directly to internet .Just disable the internet connection inside your player and see if does work.if your player is updated to latest firmware and it is working very well with other titles so there is no way for Spirit movie not to work.Just Disable internet connection and see if it works.it happened before with Transformers and Iron Man after Disabling the internet connection everything were working smoothly.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear about your problem. I'm sure it'll be fixed ASAP.

The workaround for now is:

1. Remove your SD card (bottom right of player)
2. Power on player
3. Insert disc

It should work fine. Let me know if it doesn't.

Thanks,
Peter

Thanks Peter, but the problem was the Network Connection I never said I had an SD Card installed. Some other people said to disable the Network Connection and that worked. Oh, and that was for The Wrestler. I see the future of watching movies is to Stream them from a Server, but you will need a good Fiber connection.

Unhappy same player but no fix

I also have the BD35 and I tried all the fixes above. Honestly the issue with my copy of the spirit is that it keeps saying it can't read the disc. I played the disk already on a PS3 with no prob. Any ideas?

Change the disc and you are fine.this has been happened before with DVD it works in this player and the other player doesn't work.Make sure your copy is clean and no finger prints or scratches on the disc.PS3 is manufactured to handle severe cases in discs.

Another option too is to Disable playback in 24p ,seems Panasonic player have problems in this mode for some discs and a firmware upgrade is on the way to fix it as i have read around forums.Hopefully my advice will help you.

Well I tried all these things. I even went to the store to try and get a new copy but they were all out (I am in the military and stationed in Korea so when AAFES gets something it always sells out quick). So the store basically couldn't do anything for me. Altough they did test it in two other players (a HCT and a Sony BD350). The disk worked in both. So now the disk has worked in 3 different players. I really hope there is not something wrong with my BD35. Any other ideas? My tv doesn't support 24p so it is not even a option. Thanks ahead of time for anything you can recommend.

Angry Doesn't work with Bride Wars either!

I'm really getting tired of dealing with these problems on this Panasonic BD35. I think it has to do with BD Live and maybe the SD Card, but Panasonic Support is no help. These Forums are good, but everyone is shooting in the Dark. I'm getting ready to work with the software companies to take all this junk off the disks and just play the movie with Back-up Software. It works great with DVD's they play better than the original disks without all the junk. Talk to you guys soon.

Question

Ok. I looked at my disk closer and can definately see bubbling on the edges of the disk. I guess the BD35 is a little sensitive. I tried this e-mail to get ahold of lionsgate for a replacement disc:
customerservice@lionsgate.com

I am wondering if any of you know of possibly a contact number I can get a hold of someone at lionsgate for a replacement disc (I had waiting and hoping someone will answer my email). Thanks ahead of time.

You had it connected to the internet, but NO SD card? Um, that's kind of a requirement. No?

Why would you need an SD Card to connect to the Internet? Anyway, now I put a 4Gb SD Card and still no good with "Bride Wars," it Stops right before Play when all the 0000 come up. On the others like "Spirit" and "The Wrestler," a Network Connection or No Network Connection would come up then Play the movie. I could not get "Bride Wars" to Play.

Well, I just figured that possibly their firmware (possibly? Probably!) had a hangup about being "internet enabled" but saw that there wasn't any memory to facilitate it, causing a "soft error" that could cause a momentary stumble in playback. I know, I'm reaching.......

Well these BD 35's have nothing but trouble, so I'm thinking of upgrading to a BD 80. If I keep having problems with the new Blu-ray's, I think that is what I'll do. I'll keep you guys informed.

I have been watching "2001:A Space Odyssey" and so far, playback has "paused" twice for about 3sec. And on a BD80. (Fresh out of the box, no FW updates). May have to drag a network cable over to it....... You don't need an SD card to just do a FW update, right?

I just up-dated the FW from original v1.1 to v1.5 via an update disk I made from the FW downloaded file. Easy as pie! Let's see if this solves the "pause" during playback issue.....
