First of all, great thread, honestly just great, catch all for the items most often overlooked by the other threads, part discussion, part wish list.
So, a couple of pages back, the discussion was Ginger Lynn or Annette Haven, then went on to name a couple others from the golden age. The thing is you cannot just focus on one star or starlet. Granted their appearance is what you look for, but the film itself is all normally the Director or in some cases the photographer and editing. And so much that is actually just missing. Damiano, Spinelli, Howard, Metzger, Stevens, Lee, Graver, Taylor just to name a few from the golden age, then the post Golden age Paul Thomas, John Leslie, Michael Ninn and Gregory Dark. And there is a caveat to their work. A lot of these were shot on 35mm film and even advertised that way. So possibly somewhere film exist, but what would need to be done to give these a proper release, and who actually owns the films. Vinegar Syndrome has done a great job of going after back catalogue titles, and well Distribpix has a wealth of titles that just scream out for a HD release. Restorations are done, so where are the blu ray of the remaining Metzger titles? Waiting for over a year for Steven Morowitz to finish up the next two Cecil Howard titles and put them up for order, but then again, he goes full Criterion on his releases. The biggest problem is, who owns what, and are willing to do a deal for any possible releases to happen, and for it to be done correctly. Uncut, unedited, as it originally appeared, with one notable exception of a certain person who messed up the industry, Ginger Lynn has a unique opinion of Ms. Lords, and it’s not favorable. Damiano’s kids were working on having his most important films restored for hopefully possible releases, the ones through VS have been near perfect, the Deep Throat release not so perfect, passable but not what it should have been. Where is The Story of Joanna, The Devil in Miss Jones in proper releases from the family? Still waiting on films from DeRenzy, that I would have thought VS had a deal with the estate. As for Mitchell Brothers (Green Door and others) don’t know if the family is willing to let anyone do anything with those after all that happened with Jim and Artie. This is a great vent, but honestly coming up with 10 that need released is so easy, 1. 3 A.M. (The Time of Sexuality) the freaking shower scene was edited by Orson Welles so he could get his camera man back to his own film! 2. Anna Obsessed (1977), a flop on it initial release, after some editing a great Porn /Thriller that deserved to be seen correctly, with real acting. 3. The Devil in Miss Jones, another of Damiano’s dark stories, and a tour de force for Georgina Spelvin. 4. Taboo: American Style - Henri Pachard take the basic premise and turned it into a 4 part miniseries, that has a beginning, middle and end. Where no one is as decent as they appear to be. 5. Amanda by Night - R. Bolla, Veronica Hart in a Gary Graver crime drama 6. Talk Dirty to Me – Spinelli directed Leslie as a man on a mission 7. Roommates – Chuck Vincent’s - three women dealing wit their lives in NYC in 1980’s NY, stepping away from their former abused selves. 8. Nothing to Hide – Spinelli does a spin off sequel to Talk Dirty to me, that is better than the “official sequel”! 9. Insatiable - really does it need a reason other than Marilyn Chambers, the original All American Girl really only did a limited number of films, not counting the compilations, this is one that is not controlled by Mitchell Brothers, so who knows. 10. Raw Talent- Jerry Butler, with a solid story, that has been edited past its initial release, and should be release as it originally was, a bout a working actor, trying to get a gig. I go into the Dark Force thread once in a while and read some of the posts but I don't know if I'll ever quite understand so I'll ask here (just so I don't end up arguing with the Dark Force account): What's up with that label? All of this "banana man" stuff I see.. why do people support them and what is the gimmick all about? Oddest thing I've seen in a while.

![]() As for why people anybody supports Code Red (Dark Force is a different label, although David DeFalco and Bill Olsen are practically best buds), it ultimately comes down to the library of trashy cult films released. It sure isn't because of the stellar customer service. |

Anybody here seen Terror Toons? I'm halfway through it right now and I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. It's weird as hell and the gore is genuinely disgusting/great. It's streaming on Prime right now, decent way to spend time if you want to check it out. On the Blu-ray side, the Indiegogo for the 4th one has a 4-film Blu boxset but it's $160 for discs I assume are BD-Rs and are probably SD files so I'd go with the Prime stream until a trustworthy company puts the films out (which I hope happens tbh)

Just want to say I'm loving this thread! Great to see some recommendations for films I am unfamiliar with!
A good blaxploitation film that I don't think was mentioned yet is Bucktown with Fred Williamson and Pam Grier. Scorpion put out a pretty solid blu-ray last year, and I think it's a fun movie. ![]() |

Ok folks, it is currently 9:26am. I’m lying on the couch (not working currently), my wife and son are out of the house for the day and the special medicine I took about 2 hours ago is starting to take hold.
So, after I make a nice fry up for breakfast, I want to settle in for a film. After I post this, I will start to make / eat breakfast and once finished I will take a look at the suggestions of the following short list of films. So please help me pick what I watch today (going in blind for all of these)! Here are the nominees covering at most one film per genre: - Caliber 9 (Italian Mafia / Crime) - the Siege of Firebase Alpha (Ozploitation Action flick with Wings Hauser) - The Sinful Dwarf (Sleeze?) -Orgasmo (Lenzi Giallo) - Alice Sweet Alice (Proto Slasher?) Will check in an hour or so to see what the winner is (if there is a clear cut one). |

If you have never seen Alice Sweet Alice (or Communion as it's also known as - which is my preferred title)... hands down that should be priority one today after your fry up. It was one of the best things I've seen in the last 6 months... and knowing what I know about you and your love for Giallo... to me Alice Sweet Alice is the film that bridges 60s/70s Giallo and 80s Slasher films. It's a fantastic film! ![]() ![]() Then, once you watch Alice Sweet Alice if you want to continue with the Giallo theme - watch Orgasmo as it is excellent as well (really cool 60's Euro Giallo feel). The Sinful Dwarf is pretty cool too if you want to go sleazy instead... ![]() But IMHO definitely Alice Sweet Alice first! Last edited by DrEricVornoff; 11-16-2020 at 01:15 PM. |
