What do you guys think?
I think they should include a free bucket of popcorn with
purchase.

My local megaplex charges $12.50 for a ticket and another
$6.00 for popcorn. $18.50 and I only get to see it once. In
1999 it was only $4.50 and $3.00.

Maybe this will give some perspective.

You had a theater that still charged $4.50 in 1999? Wow, I could do a $4.50 student ticket in 1996 or so, but standard asking was $7 or so in 1999. The $0.50 a year hike is starting to get old however.

Here's the main problem

The theater's share of your ticket rises every week after release. You go see a movie opening day, and they're keeping about a buck of what you're paying . You go see it 6 weeks later, and they're getting $5-6. That's why popcorn is $6, because they have no other way to make money (and why they have all the ads before the movie). The longer the movie stays around, the greater the theater's share

The problem is that many movies don't stay around past that magic 4 weeks, and the number that do is getting less and less.

Me, Regal offers this great thing where if you get together with a bunch of friends you can buy a coupon book.

http://www.corporateboxoffice.com/cg...?view=discount

(the Red you have to wait 10 days to see the movie, blue is unlimited)

You have to buy it in blocks of 50 tickets (5 friendsx10 each, $75 a person), but you get a pass good any time for any movie (or as credit toward IMAX/3D features) for $7.50 and don't expire.

Saves me $3 a movie. Go on Tuesdays and popcorn's a buck with their membership card

Default Trek fan help please.

Jeff, Bill, and all Trek fans. I have only seen the first and second Star Trek movies. I am considering a blind buy on the 6 pack because it is a super deal. Could I hear a star rating for each film, as you see/rank them? I realize its only for the film, not the BD.

Example...

1 = ***
2 = *****

Or however you would like to type it.

Thanks very much.

My theater was $4.75 in 1999. Still have my box of Phantom Menace ticket stubs.

Current prices haven't gone up much. At least around here. $6.75

Of course, concession prices suck. Which is why I grab take-out beforehand.

Jeff and I agree for once, for some reason as a child I was addicted to Voyage Home, not sure why. I especially loved the ending.

Ouch. 1.5 for Frontier.

It's shame that Shatner didn't get to rework the film like he wanted to a few years ago.

But honestly, not to sure even with the rock monsters and such that the film would improve.

Nice to see a high score for Search for Spock. I hear so many people say that it's terrible.

I've read the novelization that contains the rock monster. It doesn't help. The only thing that could help is including the fan MST3k of it

Now if only the ultra-expensive opening to T2 that got scrapped that's in the novelization had been there. Wow, that was something

Even though Spock rips off Farewell Space Battleship Yamato: Soldiers of Love (later retooled into a second season of the show) to a degree (as Enterprise would later rip off the original TV series. What did you think that other Galaxy class was named after the WW2 Battleship in its seafaring form? ), it's got a good story with good character development.

Glad there is someone else out there that agrees THIEF is pure class.

His first feature actually was THE JERICHO MILE (a TV feature, but a feature none-the-less), which is harder to find than all his other movies. Shame as it is quite good.

TBH I will be getting the collector's set for the 2nd through 6th movies, the first one is almost as forgettable as most of TOS. (Don't hit me)

If you haven't seen the DC of 1, give it another shot. The pacing is completely fixed and it's no longer "THe Motionless Picture"

Well I no longer buy DVD movies but if it comes out as an individual blu-ray at a decent price, I'll be more than happy to give it a shot.

I really hope Lionsgate haven't tinkered (negatively) with this upcoming release

Yes, it can be gotten cheaper though

4700yen is standard pricing in Japan, where everything is geared toward the rental market.
