Arrow Robin Hood (2010) Review Thread (Spoilers)

Synopsis:
Quote:
MIt is late 12th century England and Sir Robin Longstride, Earl of Huntington, (Russell Crowe) has returned to his northern English village after fighting in the Third Crusade. Upon arrival, the nobleman and his servant discover the oppression caused by the new Sheriff of Nottingham (Matthew Macfadyen). Sir Robin uses his intelligence and military skills to free his home village from tyranny and corruption in England, by taking back what is rightfully his, and by taking back what rightfully is theirs, to restore justice and happiness to England. Robin must also win the affection of the recently widowed Lady Marian (Cate Blanchett) while leading his Merry Men of Sherwood Forest to victory and fairness.

Should be a very good movie. The role of Robin Hood seems tailor made for Crowe. It looks like he lost some weight for this movie.

He looks ok I guess. Personally I think Costner looked more 'midieval' and updated than Crowe's look. No tights there either.

Crowe looks awesome, he was just on Letterman 2 nights ago and I noticed he had that great Gladiator look. I'm glad him got back into shape and shaved that mane, he looks more intimidating without the hair. He's going to stomp the shit outta Prince of Thieves.

I really liked Costner's version of Robin Hood growing up, but I have hopes the Crowe-Scott version will be one I like the rest of my life.

PS. Comparing just the photos, I like Costner's costume more, it looks more returning-soldier than Crowe's (assuming that story point still applies).

IMO Costner just looks like he wondered around a Value Village and grabbed random things and said "Oh yeah I look pretty medieval now!" I would have to say Crowe just really brings it how for me here, and he will never hold the title for most career movie flops, so that definitely puts him up much higher in my book of respected choices.

Good one. I was thinking Costner looked like a member of the Medieval Village People.

Holy crap, we agree on something here? Lol, but yeah I loved Prince of Thieves when I was 6 when it came out, I had all the Robin Hood action figures and Robin Hood tree fort, but just like those toys that didn't last long, it just hasn't stood the test of time and he looks really cheesy.

You're absolutely right.

After all a modern crew cut on Crowe looks positively medieval compared to Costner's long hair.

Edit to add: and it really looks like Crowe is wearing jeans.

yes, and feathered hair and an American accent in Medieval England were the greatest additions to Robin Hood of all-time.

P.S. They're Medieval jeans!

It's how I'd picture Robin Hood, just needs the hat on his head and he'd be set. But I'll be seeing it when it comes out.
