I'm glad you guys are excited about these Apple Products, since I am a stock holder and the stock is doing well. What exactly are you guys going to do with this Mac Mini? I know bhampton is going to use it as a HTPC to channel his sources. All my viewing sources are accessed through my Sony UHD TV. IPTV with Intranet Server DVR, Android Apps for my Streaming Providers, and a Panasonic BD Player if I want to view any BD or DVD.

Don’t put words in my mouth. It was a question out of curiosity as I own a IMac, IPad and IPhone. I did own a MacBook but it finally died on me last year after many years service.

This man is buying discs and discs only.

The new mini yes, not Apple TV sir.

My IMac is several years old, I’m thinking a Mac mini may be a damn fine option.

I have to say that I am impressed by Sherri Bogard at Warner Bros. customer service.

I had written to her back in June about my defective DVD copy of the documentary MGM: When The Lion Roars hosted by Patrick Stewart. It was a bonus feature included with the 70th Anniversary Ultimate blu-ray edition of Gone With The Wind.

At the time, she wrote back to me and said that her office was closed due to the pandemic and that she would help when it was re-opened. I wrote back to her two more times about a month apart each to see if there was any estimate as to when I might get a replacement. I got the same answer each time. I last wrote to her in August and she said that she would send me a replacement as soon as they re-opened. I thought I was basically being told to go away and I gave up any hope of ever getting a replacement as month after month went by and nothing came.

My replacement arrived today! She actually remembered my request three months after I last wrote to her and five months after I had first written to her. If only such customer service was commonplace and not the exception!

From what I’ve read on Plex forum, the Mac mini works great.

I have to wait till Sunday to use mine (because it’s a gift so I have to wait for the party)

I see the Mac mini as capable of everything the ATV4k can do without a few of the limitations the ATV4K has. For example, the ATV4K audio is limited to 48Khz and no bit streaming, the mini should not have those limitations

I’ll certainly be able to compare the mini to the ATV4K.

I’m watching today’s $7.99 UHD blind buy 1917 and the sound is lovely.

Easy and Free (AT&T Fiber and streaming HBOmax):

After getting HBOmax working in mid-October and
finding a way to make VHS copies, I find I'm
watching movies I wouldn't have rented much less
purchased, only because seeing/recording them is
so easy.

(I watch the VHS tapes on a 12" or 19" crt TV and
listen w/Polk speakers)

Anyone else noticed a tendency to watch a movie
via streaming just because it's so easy?

Why limit yourself to only one source? Below is my devices that allow me to select from a very diverse amount of content.

EPVision PHD 205LE Tuner ATSC/QAM Tuner
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1250 ATSC/QAM Tuner
FreeSat V7 DVB-S2 Satellite Tuner
TBS-6983 Professional DVB-S2 Satellite Tuner Card
JVC HM–DH5U D-VHS D-Theater
Nvidia Shield Pro 2019
Roku Ultra 2019
Oppo UDP-203 UHD Blu-ray Player
Sony UBP-X1000ES

If Apple comes out with a new model of Apple TV 4K and has certain features then I will add one to the rack. There is a high probability that a Tascam BD-MP4K will get added to the rack.

Sorry to say but I have not. Not available from Netflix disc by mail so likely a blind buy.

Hey Guys. Took some pictures with the new iPhone 12 Pro and uploaded a new gallery. It does a lot better with the room, but doesn’t quite handle the light boxes well. Still need to take new screen shots as I am guessing they should be more accurate with the existing ones. Let me know what you think.

I'll get a replacement Mac Mini at some point. My current Mini works fine, so don't need it right this second. The same goes for the new Macbook Air -- I may get that later to replace my current Macbook Pro 13". Again, only as future replacements - don't need them now.

Now if they released a new Apple TV 4K box I'd get that immediately since I use that daily as one of my main central components of my home theater hub.

It also helps that I have a good friend that works at Apple, so I can get 15% off with a friends and family discount from him on hardware.

I just got AT&T Fiber in late August, the free HBOmax wasn't
a consideration, I don't want to spend much money on devices
to record from HBOmax, hence the HDMI->analog A/V->VHS->
SDTV TV (although I do have Dolby Surround set up in my
basement).

I'm just reporting something I thought might be interesting.

Really like these as they can accommodate some weight and have a decent range of motion. On a couple locations, I had to add spacers between the mount and the wall to get the angle I wanted.

My Resident Evil 4K collection just arrived. I'm also on staycation for just over a week, so I have a lot of 4K disc material to get through!

Great timing! I am hoping to find a good deal somewhere during this week on it. Love the first and like a couple of the others, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
