I picked up a brand new UB9000 for $899 plus tax with a 10% off coupon from Best Buy. Still need to hook it up. I have a JVC RS540 which I know the UB9000 is overkill for the current projector. I will be moving the UB820 to my older non HDR 4K LG set.

Would you guys recommend using the Super High Luminance or Medium/High Luminance? I’m aware of the tiers, Super = 1500 nits, MediumHigh = 1,000. But I’m getting differing info as far as the nits related to my TCL 8 series display. Per Cnet, HDR peak brightness is 1,818, but “accurate color” HDR is 982 nits. Which luminance settings would you recommend based on that? Thanks in advance

So, why did Panasonic remove the "M" from their (Ultra HD) Blu-ray player model numbers?

The Panasonic DP-UB9000 has a really cool system called the "HDR Optimizer" that boosts the quality of HDR10 discs, especially for lower-nit displays like projectors. It's also the only Ultra HD Blu-ray player certified by THX. You will absolutely enjoy it.

UB9000 $100 off at BBY. $899.99. And the DP-UB820-K is an amazing $349.99. DP-UB420-K is $149.99
It's now that price without any coupons. Last edited by cupboy; 11-22-2020 at 05:35 AM. |

My Panny 820 can play Atmos from a disk but when I put an Atmos demo file on a USB (MKV and M2ts) it doesn't recognise the audio format. Demos from this site;
https://thedigitaltheater.com/dolby-trailers/ The 4K player can play normal MKV files that don't contain Atmos. |

This is an anti-piracy "feature" included in some players. They don't want you to be playing "ripped" copies that could be stolen. Lossless audio file playback can be severely limited. |

Okay, that makes sense. If I upload the files to Infuse (another version of Plex) ATV4K plays the file but it is lossy not lossless.

It's Panasonic's Black Friday promotions on all of their BD players. These are the lowest prices every and will never be this low again in the foreseeable future. |

I’m really tempted to upgrade to the NX7/RS2000 but I think I’ll hold off to see if JVC updates their lineup in 2021. |

I have the Panny 820 going into an Atmos soundbar with a high-speed HDMI cable. Do set the digital outputs (on the 4K player) to Bitstream or PCM?
