Leave them out of the main feature, but include them as bonus material.
I’d really like to know if the original opening to MAD MAX 2’s chase sequence was filmed: Wez, and a group of gang members are looting and setting fire to a farmhouse (the farm owners have just been executed - hanging from a nearby tree), just as Max takes the rise in the road and sees them, alerting them to his presence, the chase would then continue onto the main road - as seen at the film’s beginning. Don’t know if the above material was filmed or not - it does exist in the film’s script - but that’s no guarantee that it was filmed. I’ve never seen any production stills from the sequence. I have seen images (screenshots taken from what appears to be a videotape quality source) of a deleted scene from the original MAD MAX - Max tending to his blown off kneecap at a creek. It’d be great if these ‘lost scenes’ were made available after all this time. It took a while, but eventually, even the ‘Burke Cocoon’ footage was released. So, there may still be hope. If nothing does survive in the form of outtakes from the film, there’s always the alternate and unused shots and sequences from the television version of MAD MAX 2 (‘The Lost Cut’). |
