Is there a terrible looking Blu of a CG film? (half-serious) - Blu-ray Forum

Unless they really used cheap CG or just do the worst possible job putting it on the disc, I doubt there will ever be a bad looking CG film on Blu just because the source is all digital.

My only bump would be Surf's Up which looked great but because of the style they went with, some scenes had intentional grain on them. (documentary clips / fake handheld camera shots)

You should try watching it in HD, they will look amazing in BD, cannot wait for that release.

Unless something goes terribly wrong, most CGI animation should look great on Blu-ray. Cheap animation does have a tendency to stick out though.

For a CG film, Appleseed Ex Machina isn't at the best it could look, which is unfortunate.

It still looks great as a whole though, and you won't find too many people complaining about the PQ on that one.

That's only part CG, though. Most of the backgrounds were live action.

Its not complete CG but on spider man 3 all of the CG effects looked really fake.

Appleseed Ex Machina is a very good blu-ray and I'm glad it was one of my first, need to watch it again in the near future.

How about iGor? maybe the first ice age?

they don't look bad but compared to say "Cars" or "Surf's Up" they look pretty nasty.
