Unless you are setting up your your other devices to output at 480i or 480p, the pq on the s1 vs g10 should be identical(or nearly identical in the case of 1080i).

Setting up a DirecTV reciever or upconverting dvd player to output at 1080i means the images on the screen will be scaled to 1080i via the reciever/player and that image will be transmitted to the TV. The device will scale the image, not the TV.

Now, the set will have to upscale from 1080i to its native 1080p, but the result is going to be very difficult to discern(quality wise).
