Penton-Man mentioned the new grading of The NeverEnding Story a while back. Hope it makes it to BD or UHD BD. The BD release in the US was bad, sold it and retained the DVD version.
With VS at the helm, I would be surprised if it wasn’t a marked improvement.

'The Croods: A New Age' tallies highest box office opening since the pandemic began - CNBC

Quote:
“The Croods: A New Age” stunned at the box office this weekend, hauling in the biggest opening of any film released during the pandemic.

The animated sequel garnered an estimated $9.71 million domestically over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, bringing the five-day Thanksgiving weekend tally to $14.22 million.

Internationally, the Dreamworks film is on track to post $20.8 million in ticket sales, bringing the global haul to around $35 million for its debut.

“Given the constraints of the marketplace, the performance of ‘The Croods: A New Age’ shows that family audiences were indeed interested in going out to the movie theater,” Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for Comscore, said. “Despite the availability of the film on home video in the not-too-distant future, experiencing the film on the big screen had appeal for audiences around the world who showed up in solid numbers.”

As of Sunday, the number of open theaters in the U.S. and Canada was 2,267, around 38% of the cinemas open during the same time last year.

Instead, the film drew the biggest box office opening since Disney’s “Onward” was released in March prior to nationwide lockdowns. This figure also beats Warner Bros.′ “Tenet,” which had an opening of $9.35 million over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day Weekend.

“For this film to outperform expectations in a less-than-half operational market and post the highest opening so far in the pandemic era indicates that moviegoers, especially families, miss the big screen experience and are seeking it out where safe and possible to do so,” Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at Boxoffice.com, said. “The industry still has a challenging road ahead through winter, but ‘Croods’ debut is a preliminary sign of the resilience cinemas can show in the long run.”

Just finished watching Cloverfield on 4K disc. Wow, what a phenomenal soundtrack. I had bought weeks ago for under $10. I also watched 10 Cloverfield Lane this past week and that was also a winner on 4K disc.

Just finished watching Lucy on 4K disc -- what a stunner! The 4K and Atmos were demo-worthy!

When you add subs to your setup give Lucy another spin. Has some bone jaring and house shaking low frequency content.

I have the one sub for 5.1.2 playback.

I just finished watching Atomic Blonde on 4K disc and that DTS:X track was also outstanding. The Dolby Vision was nice in such a drably stylized film, but those scenes of Charlize and Sofia in the club, with the red neon and funky lighting was so cool.

We have really enjoyed the action ladies with great sound tracks in:

Anna - Sasha Luss
Atomic Blonde - Charlize Theron
Ghost In The Shell - Scarlett Johansson
Lucy - Scarlett Johansson
Mad Max: Fury Road - Charlize Theron
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - Rebecca Ferguson
Red Sparrow - Jennifer Lawrence
Sicario - Emily Blunt
Underworld's - Kate Beckinsale

Some do not include immersive audio tracks but still sound quite good with Dolby Upmixer or DTS Neural X engaged.

As todays is the LOTR/Hobbit 4K 9 disc sets spurge, I got BB to match Walmart for $79.96 each.
Don't redeem digital on Vudu, only use Movies Anywhere as VuDu was redeeming HD instead of 4K so I read.

Pretty good deal there. I am really anxious to pop these in as the early reviews seem to be positive, and it has been awhile since I took a trip to Middle Earth.

Hard to believe they are not porting over the special features. And from what I understand the full Middle-Earth set coming out next year will only have 1 new supplement, none of the old ones.

Granted, if you're a fan you probably already have all the special features but it would have been nice to be able to get rid of the older versions.

Me and a few coworkers got into a debate the other day about the best Emily Blunt movie so I asked the others to rank the big 3.

I landed on:

1 - A Quiet Place
2 - Sicario
3 - Edge of Tomorrow

And I loved Edge of Tomorrow and all of them are audio demo discs.

So I was doing some end of the year reflection and decided to tally my disc purchases this year. I think it is time to admit I have a problem. A serious problem. I bought more discs this year than I purchased in the previous 3 years combined.

I have bought far more although by the sounds of it, not as many as you! I think I went a bit crackers with purchases with my family stuff a few weeks ago. Film has always been my comfort blanket and escape.

Was delighted to secure the Network tv adaptation of ‘The Woman In Black’, Criterion’s ‘Come And See’, The Czech Blu-ray of ‘The Painted Bird’, Criterion’s ‘Carnival Of Souls’, Synapse’s ‘The Image’, the special edition of ‘Under The Shadow’, Arrow’s Dekalog and many, many others.

Can’t wait for 4K version of Possessor.

Nice haul. i feel the same way about film. While I haven't gone through anything as traumatic as what you experienced with your sister and brother-in-law, I think being cooped up in the house for the majority of the year and having lots of time to browse websites led to my splurge. Watching movies always makes me feel better.

By the end of the year I'll be at over 200 discs purchased. I still can't believe it. But it's been a great year for catalog releases. Between the Kino, Criterion, Shout and Warner Archive sales throughout the year I just couldn't pass up the deals. I would say I purchased 97% of them on sale.

I'm on a big film noir kick at the moment so I've been trying to grow my collection of those. Which led to me discovering some directors and actors which were unfamiliar to me. So now I'm seeking out more of their titles. It all just snowballs. But what a great time to be a collector!

I think I would put Sicario first but other than that I completely agree. With an honorable mention to Mary Poppins Returns as well

I went back and forth between Sicario or Quiet Place too. We also debated Mary Poppins but I couldn’t bump one of the other three for it. I even kicked around Looper at one point.

I watched Possessor yesterday on 4K disc. Great color palette. No Atmos soundtrack, just DTS 5.1 lossless.
