United Kingdom Saving Santa 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region Locked / Free]

Thoughts on this one? I just picked it up (UK release) and plan to watch it over the next few days. I'm not expecting much, the animation looks quite basic but it's a 3D Christmas movie and was easily obtainable so it was a no brainer really. I'm surprised it took me this long to get it.

Not seen it myself but there’s a user review on this thread:

Looking forward to your thoughts.

Ah yeah I saw the UK thread, I'm surprised we didn't have one here though. I guess this is a pretty minor release. I'll definitely post back when I've watched it.

Just for the record, the UK version is region free but I don't know about the French and German versions. i remember not being terribly impressed with this one:

I was initially rather bored with the film so thankfully the time travel element started to get a bit more interesting as it went on. But the songs were dire, the quality of the animation wasn't great and Martin Freeman was even more dull than usual in the lead so it was too little too late.

All this would have been forgivable if there was something to the 3D but sadly there isn't - no pop out and not even much depth. Compared to the impressive looking 3D in the Hong Kong films I watched earlier in the week (The Four II and The Four III) this was pathetic but it's a lame effort in any case.

I saw it in Imax 3D when it was released to movie theatres and the 3D was pretty bland.

Agreed, nothing to write home about in terms of 3D. The 3D actually looks a bit warpy around the edges of characters like a poor conversion. I managed about 10 minutes of the movie last night, this will probably be one that takes me a few watches to get through.

Finished up the movie, it was nice enough and I'm a sucker for anything Christmas related. I was surprised to find the movie has a fun
[Show spoiler]time travel element
which certainly made it a bit different. The 3D ranges from decent to poorly converted. There are some really nice 3D shots but this isn't going to wow many and the warping on the badly converted shots is a bit distracting. Overall it's worth it if you can get it cheap but it pales in comparison to stuff like A Christmas Carol, The Grinch and Arthur Christmas.

Ordered when the thread was created and it finally came from the UK a month and a half later! I was pretty happy with the movie. I mean there's a lot of dumb stuff to make it appeal to kids but I very much enjoyed the time travel story
[Show spoiler]particularly that it gets time travel right, fixed timeline, past can be affected not changed.
3D was really good in a few scenes, like the credits scenes at the beginning/end. During the movie there weren't too many very good 3D shots, it's mostly medium and occasionally medium strong. I'd at least recommend the movie for time travel fans.
