Thanks, all for the feedback on the discs. Small minority of discs or not, it's still disappointing especially since I'm in this camp:

I honestly doubt I'll start watching it before mid-2021.

So I'm holding off on this set.

I finished up my standard U.S. set with no scratched discs and was able to play every episode on my X800M2. It is possible.

GoT is my favorite TV show of all time but that's the same reason I'm holding off...I know I'm not going to watch the entire series from start to finish anytime soon...by the time I do the boxset will drop in price...so no rush

Has anyone attempted to replace the s8 steelbook plastic disc holders with ones that hold more discs to avoid stacking?

Does australian version comes with european subtitles (i'm interested in polish)? Anyway they'll probably not shipping to europe, so i'm probably stuck with UK ones, as i want english covers.

Still don't understand why UK version is 199 pounds, but other DE ES or IT amazon sites are selling it for less than 170 euros. Not only it's 30 less, but also euro is cheaper than pound. It was the opposite with the LOTR steelbook, where spanish edition was more costly than uk.

Well, polish distributor is the best. They want more than 1700 zlotys for the normal GOT 4k boxset, which equals to about 350 pounds... 150 pounds in comission and taxes. No wonder bluray market is dead in Poland.

Actually, the only Italian release is the steelbook, and it's been selling between 200,00 (for a very short time) and 250,00 Euro. Currently, it's 224,00 Euro. That's why I purchased the German release: no steelbook + much cheaper = WIN+WIN.

That’s some luck. Even my attempt at avoiding stacked discs in season 1-7 by getting the steelbooks resulted in scratched discs anyway. With skips here and there in an X800M2.

Yes, you're right, i was too fast with this post. The 169 euro is only in DE and not directly from amazon, so you're never know what you're getting until it arrives.

Still, for private collection i can pay only for english or polish boxes. Just out of curiosity, what languages of subtitles does german release have? Did they really repackaged disc content or it has all 20 different subtitles as UK version?

What do you mean? The 4k boxset is sold directly by Amazon.de, I myself purchased a copy.

A few (many?) pages back in this thread, you'll find a post detailing languages/subs of the German release.

Got my set yesterday shipped over the Atlantic. All discs were in place and no scratches whatsoever as far as I can see. The 3-disc case for bonus features was nasty greasy though.. Will of course take some time go though them all. Had it ordered from DD btw.

Same story, different player: finished the entire US standard set on my Panasonic 820, and no scratches to report from the stacking. While I did have a couple of playback hiccups, stopping the disc and reloading it solved it both times, so I have to assume it’s a BD 100 issue, since the discs are mint. In the end, a great set and a great upgrade.

I wonder if this will ever be released by season on 4K? I already had seasons 1 and 8 and after watching the 4K set I think seasons 6-8 are the only ones I HAVE to have on 4K. They all look great, but I think those are the best looking 4K's of the bunch and I could live with the Blu-ray sets on the other seasons.

No, but apparently you can buy the 4K discs loose on eBay, as some members have been doing to replace scratched discs.

Not season 1? I felt that whilst in absolute terms it wasn't as good as the later seasons, in terms of an upgrade from the standard blu's it was the biggest.

I’ve got Netflix, and DAZN, and PC games on Steam, and 4K movies, and books on my iPad, and AmazonMusic.... man, if you get bored these days you’ve got a serious problem. Back in the day, when I was a kid, all you had on a Sunday night was The Waltons.
I actually recommend watching the Special Features for S1 before the season. They explain so much. I was lost until about 6 episodes in.

I already had season 1 on 4K anyway before the complete series 4K set was released, but I do think the later seasons benefit the most from the upgrade.

So best buy exchanged the one disc which had playback problems, turns out it was the disc because the new one works fine. Those of you who are having playback issues may want to go to your best buy store . WB really screwed up this set with so many problems and disc authoring.
