Please, please tell me that I'm not the only one who picked this up on Record Store Day yesterday.

If a record store near you participates in RSD, then there's a good chance that they still have this in stock.

Silent Night, Deadly Night soundtrack on vinyl

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT (released in 1984) was notoriously controversial for its Santa-clad killer and TV campaign that aired at times children could see it. Despite being pulled from most markets in less than a week, the slasher film was a financial success and developed a cult following that has stretched over 35 years. This exclusive soundtrack features ten original (often upbeat) holiday songs from the film, all written by songwriter Morgan Ames (who also wrote the liner notes for this release). As a bonus, it includes two previously unreleased tracks originally recorded for the film. This RSD Black Friday release has been remastered by The End Audio, and includes all-new artwork by go-to horror artist ''Ghoulish'' Gary Pullin, and is pressed on ''Chimney Hellfire''-colored vinyl (red and orange opaque swirl). Each LP will come with two one-of-a-kind, hand cut, laminated 35mm strips of film (8 film cells) from an original 1984 print of Silent Night, Deadly Night!

I grabbed it as well. Love the design on the record. Plus, one of the strips of film was absolutely amazing. So, can't complain. Was a little surprised my local store had one considering how low the print run was on it.

I would've, if I had a record store less than an hour away that participates in RSD, AND if I didn't have to work all day.

I saw it yesterday at my local record shop. Though I didn't pick it up since I've never seen the film.

What are the odds that these guys will pick up Mommie Dearest as a title?

VS and Arrow are teasing some great stuff for 2021. Has Scream made any hints
as to what's coming up for them ?

Scream Factory is looking a lot like Vestron right about now.

I totally saw this coming.

I had a feeling that after the Friday set that there would be some silence from Scream for a little while. Such a massic undertaking whether people think it was worth it or not.

I'm fine with them taking a break for a sec though, especially with how much is going on through other labels. I"m sure in December or January we'll see them start picking up some steam again.

With the knowledge of Army of Darkness, They Live, Prince of Darkness, etc. getting UHDs, it's probably going to be a big UHD year for them with the occasional suprise announcement here and there.

I am very curious what's next in store for Scream though and what people think? With their MGM deal coming to a close, Warner releases slowing down, I wonder what's next for them they can make a big splash with? Maybe they can finally strike a deal with Lionsgate? Figure out some way they can get titles that Lionsgate doesn't bother doing with the Vestron line? I don't know...

IMO, Scream/Shout are becoming the next Anchor Bay/Image Entertainment. They will start to release less and less older movies and will mostly release newer movies and then eventually they will be bought out. I'm guessing the same will happen to Arrow.

I think this fate is unavoidable for them. I've heard remarks they've made in podcasts along the lines of "we're surprised we've made it this far." So they are not divorced from reality.

The question is, how long can they hang on. There are still Warner and Paramount titles they could license. They could even license titles already released through Warner Archives and produce bonus content for them and give them nice collector's edition releases (Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, Night School, etc.). There's always Lionsgate. And then there's UHD releases, which is more likely to be their go-to move than new licensing deals. I think they probably have a little left in the tank, but we'll see how far it gets them.

Arrow is a different case... their "transition" period began a while ago. Their fate will likely be similar to Scream's, albeit sooner.

I think their problem is they don't feel like it's worth it to release some of the more obscure stuff that's left. Even re-releasing some of the warner archive titles probably wouldn't be worth it to them. Which is why they turned to more mainstream re-releases. Which is a shame because there is still a lot of stuff out there that doesn't have a release.

They might have to get over themselves and resort to releasing those kinds of titles before it's all said and done. The UHD train will only get them so far.
