I wrote to them about Peter Benchley's The Beast (the mini series) and they don't have the rights anymore, which is really too bad because it's in dire need of a good release (there's a cheap blu ray that is no better than the dvd and is being sold by third parties for 300$, insane!). I was really bummed!

I would love an improved blu-ray of Peter Benchley's The Beast, I've always enjoyed it since I saw it on TV when it premiered. Don't believe the prices on eBay though, if you keep an eye on it, you'll be able to get the existing blu-ray at a reasonable price. I was able to score a copy for $24 earlier this year.

The question is, how long can they hang on. There are still Warner and Paramount titles they could license. They could even license titles already released through Warner Archives and produce bonus content for them and give them nice collector's edition releases (Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, Night School, etc.). There's always Lionsgate. And then there's UHD releases, which is more likely to be their go-to move than new licensing deals. I think they probably have a little left in the tank, but we'll see how far it gets them.

Arrow is a different case... their "transition" period began a while ago. Their fate will likely be similar to Scream's, albeit sooner.
Yeah, if they can get more deals with Warner and Paramount then they could stick arounds couple more years I would hope.

Don’t they have the Roger Corman library, or are his kids still holding that up?

Between that, UHD, the potential NoES set, and Shout Select releases, they should be ok for a while. It’s not like Anchor Bay. AB’s downfall began when word got out that they would be bought out started circulating, and Lustig jumped ship.

Yeah. Every time Anchor Bay got sold it turned into a worse company. Shout Factory isn't on the market, so Scream should he fine, but it wouldn't surprise me if their output slows down in 2021.

To piggyback on this... If Scream Factory can sublicense Miramax titles from Paramount that would open the door to quite a number of titles as well. I'd still love to get a more definitive release of Hellraiser Bloodline and truth be told, despite the later sequels being poor, it'd still be nice to see Hellraiser Inferno, Hellseeker, Deader, and Hellworld back in print as a box set, even if they were simply 1080p 5.1 presentations with little to nothing else included in the package. I say this as someone that owns all of them already a few times over and have taken to importing the Spanish release of Inferno and Bloodline as well. I'd still buy a Scream Factory collection.

I just hope they actually have more Paramount titles to release period. We know they still have the Dead Zone, but beyond that we don't even know if they have anymore Paramount titles that they were able to license out.

The fact they haven't announced Dead Zone yet is astonishing. A Stephen King/David Cronenberg joint starring Christopher Walken? Come ON...!

Paramount has turned a new leaf and for all we know they want to release their catalogue themselves. Sleepy Hollow, What Lies Beneath, Dead Again, etc., might be more likely to come from Paramount themselves than from Scream. I mean, they released The Haunting in their premium line...

I would rather Scream get all of Paramount's horrors/thrillers and for Paramount to focus on their classics. Their well is too deep for them to ever get to everything themselves, but I think they're feeling ambitious right now.

As long as everything gets released, then i'm fine with it. I just don't want to see certain films never seeing the light of the day again.

Just finished revisiting the Final Destination series on HBO, wonder if we could ever get a boxset of that. Would also really dig a release of May and they seem the label for it.

In the last Indicator Podcast they mentioned that Paramount isnīt interested in a new deal at least currently in the UK. Looks to me, that they finally discovered the worth of their back catalog titles and doing them themselves now worldwide. We also got all of the current US releases here in Germany during the last couple of months (and with only 10€ very reasonable priced, too). Would never hoped something like that could actually happen.

10$ Paramount bare-bones releases against 25$ almost bare-bones Shout releases? I know which one I currently would prefer...

Final Destination would be a good fit for the line and does seem like a franchise that Shout Factory would have an interest in but given that it's a Warner Property I wouldn't hold my breath. Lucky Mckee's MAY is an absolute no go as it's tied to Lionsgate and thus could make it's way to the Vestron line if the folks over there ever decide to revive that line and start releasing titles on a dependable schedule again. MAY is one of several early 2000 efforts folks have been asking for. (MAY, Strangeland, Blair Witch II, etc)

I love all the Final Destination films and was horrified to discover I only owned parts 2 and 5 on Blu-ray - the rest on DVD so I corrected that wrong by purchasing the rest on BD. I now own a patchwork of different releases so I definitely would welcome a collection box set.

I read this, and all I can see is a water faucet slowly dripping...

Hopefully the Paramount presents Line is a sign of things to come, if nothing else.
