So yeah, I don't think this specific move will kill cinema in itself, but the longer this situation goes on the more that people will just get out of the habit of visiting das kino, as well as paying for it. So when/if it does open up on the scale we had previously it'll be verr interesting to see what the public's reaction will be when they're used to having new releases pumped straight thru to their phones, and at no extra cost on top of their existing subscriptions to whatever studio's streaming service. It's remarkable how quickly humans adapt to new situations, it's one of our great traits as a species, but it means that cinema-going might be left behind.

SDC19 Samsung’s Developer Event took place in October 2019 and the video was on-line in early november 2019.

Since March 2019 when Disney became the owner of 21st Century Fox, of course, things have changed since. It takes some time to take all this into account.

I haven't watched it but I hope it's more involved than what Dado Valentic said in that promo event that Panasonic did for their new OLEDs a couple years back, that he just put it onto a certain picture present and it perfickly matched his calibrated mastering monitor

Better than what? I'm not allowed to critique the practices of a video professional because I work in a supermarket? I still find it extraordinary that a professional colourist wouldn't calibrate a set before using it, even if it was just as a client monitor and not the actual mastering monitor. They're hired for their 'eye', yes, and some people will say that because of increased metamerism with OLED's spectral peaks that they need to be perceptually matched to a reference display (Judd Vos and whatnot), but other professionals like Steve Yedlin say otherwise. Personally I'd like to confirm what any set is doing via a metered calibration even if it was reputed to be perfick out of the box but hey, I know there's not much call for that when I'm putting baked beans onto a shelf
