I have the same reservations. My set is sitting in the shipping box still wrapped. I have until January 16th to return if that is the route I choose.

Both sets have the same content. In the Steelbook set, Season 8 has 6 discs on 2 stacker hubs, 3 are Season 8 episodes and the other 3 are all the bonus features.
Will be interesting to see how the UK Steelbook set handles that when it comes out in just over a week. Typically we don't get stacked discs. |

Guaranteed it will be identical. When I got Westworld S3 UK steelbook, it was stacked, even though there were only 3 discs. I can only assume it was due to Warner making a universal steelbook that could house the 6 discs of the US 4K+blu set. Frustrating, but unsurprising. I would be incredibly surprised if they alter the design for the UK set.

Would make sense for it to be identical, but then the UK standard set packaging is totally different to the US one, different type of boxes, no stacked discs, etc.

True, but then regular case packaging is often different in the UK - no eco cases, fewer Viva Elites in general (although Warner are much better than the other studios in this regard), the wider cases to support those stupid red tags, and so on. The regular UK packaging follows the usual Warner rule of 4-6 discs in a case using Viva Elites and 1-3 discs in a case using the standard (UK) Amarays.

I recently purchased the 4k, UHD version of the complete Game of Thrones series. As I started making my way through the set, I found that one of the discs (season 1, disk 2 none the less) is apparently defective. The disc loads and the menu background loads, but the menu interface does not load. After 30 seconds, playback fails all together.
My question is if there is a way to exchange just the single disc instead of returning the entire collection. I've already entered the digital code, which is part of my hesitation to just send the entire thing back. I'm not aware of a way to get a hold of the manufacturer to try do initiate an exchange, but I had hoped someone here may know. Things I've done to determine that the disc is defective: Player, monitor and receiver are running the latest firmware. The disc is fingerprint, scratch and dust free. I've double checked the rest of the season and all works as expected. Tried loading the disc after running a properly working disc. None of these have changed the results. Thanks for any help you can provide. |

Unfortunately I do not think you would be able to do that unless you contacted the company that produced the discs. You would be better off returning the whole set to Best Buy or from whomever you purchased the set. I have copied the whole set to ISO files on my Zappiti NAS and I can tell you that one disc from each of the eight seasons failed to copy. I returned the whole set to Best Buy and they gave me a new set but the same 8 discs failed using the new set. I have decided to try burning each of the 'bad' discs to MKV files to see if I still have the same problem. Someone in another forum had mentioned that perhaps some of the discs were triple-layered. |

Watched the first disc of season 2 and no issues at all. Disc 2 however has pixelated on me twice already. It was brief but nonetheless..quite disappointing. They clearly rushed this release one way or another.
Edit: It froze down on me halfway through episode 5. I can now see a couple of minor scratches on the disc which likely is the source. Took the disc out and cleaned with water. The second pixelation is gone now and it didn't freeze on me at episode 5 either. Weird. Scratches still there. Last edited by trekky76; 12-07-2020 at 02:53 AM. |

I will be downsizing my house when I retire. I have 8 bookcases of blu-rays and dvds. My entire collection has been copied to my Zappiti NAS. So I have 8 bookcases versus an 11" by 12" Zappiti NAS. I will be donating my blu-ray collection to my local library. |

How can there be scratches on newly produced discs? What’s done wrong in production? Never seen it myself, though not denying it can happen, so I’m curious how it can. Also, discs have ECC, so they should be resiliant to scratches (that are orthogonal to the tracks). |

Quite the treat rewatching this. So many details I forgot. Only seen the episodes once and binged the first few seasons in a weekend.
Sucks having to keep changing the audio to the Atmos whenever you come back to watching and it not remembering where you were, but it is what it is. No deal breaker. |
