We're really about halfway through a 6 hour conference and no trailers?

I see Kong has something metal around his throat. Fashionable.

It doesn't appear that they will be debuting the trailer at CCXP. I saw a schedule for Warner somewhere and there didn't really look to be any particular spots where GvK would be talked about. Surely we'll get it when WW84 comes out though.

I am all but certain that the first trailer comes on Christmas, with WW84. If not, maybe the first installment of the SnyderCut, which is likely to hit in the March/April window.

I'm guessing Super Bowl.

All the big WB movies get a super bowl ad.

I'd almost put money on it

You might want to rethink that bet: Warners haven't taken a SuperBowl spot in over a decade: the $5.6m a 30 second spot costs just isn't worth it even in a normal year, let alone at a time when a $5.6m opening weekend is still going to be a steep mountain to climb. For the past couple of years Sony has stopped as well.

They're gonna need a massive ad campaign for this venture. I think they're gonna put out all the stops for this.

At this point, I have no more guesses after the practical no-show at the Warner panel. 5 months and change to go, it can honestly drop at any time.

Money down the drain: unless the SuperBowl massively cuts the price they won't go near it - if they wouldn't spend a weeks' worth of mass multi-network TV spot spending on a single SB slot for films they were hoping to be billion dollar hits like Tenet of WW84 before the faeces hit the fan, they're not going to spend that much on 30 seconds when not just the marketing budget but the whole marketing department has been slashed to the bone and you can shoot deer in theaters without worrying about hitting anyone. They'll be counting the pennies.

At best HBO might consider a 30-second spot with 3 seconds per film, but SB spots are notoriously low yield - they're prestige bragverts for successful brands, not rainmakers. And spending that kind of showing off money after laying off thousands of staff would not be a good look.

Don't feel bad about no GvK trailer...they didn't show much of anything over 6 hours...sounds like a complete bore of a conference.

The internet has made a lot of traditional network advertising practices obsolete.

Now Legendary and WB are said to be heading to court over WB's (AT&T, really) HBO Max decision, to duke it out over this film and all the others (Dune, SnyderCut, etc.) they have partnered on and yet to release. Legendary reportedly had absolutely no warning (it was rumored in the trades for a few months) about the HBO Max decision and it has reportedly cost them major money from Netflix and rival hulu, who would have been competing for the exhibition rights.

Looks like they have partnered with WB on only GvK and Dune. WB having still done their job of distributing it theatrically are doing their job (prior to the offer by Netflix and Hulu), and this may just end with a payout to Legendary Pictures (depends on what percentage of the gross they were expecting as co-producers). I feel like AT&T and WB are better lawyer'ed up than Legendary Pictures.

Legendary is owned by Wanda, so they're not going to come up short in the lawyer department.

Warners and Legendary have hated each other - really, really hated each other - for years, and even though Thomas Tull was shown the door after similarly fouling up their relationship with Universal in much less time, after the failure of GKOTM I'm guessing Warners just don't give a shit about any ongoing relationship even if things have become a bit less toxic before this (the Monsterverse was just the last frayed strand of their previous deal) and figure they'll just get the lawyers together and -

It's hard to see the move as anything but a "***k you" from Warners to Legendary/Wanda.

I'm pretty sure i've asked this before, but never got an answer....

Why do people keep calling them "Warners"? It should be Warner.

Probably a short abbreviation of "Warner Bros" for easier typing.
