Default Plastic Woman

Cat Vasko to Pen Female-Centric Plastic Man Movie (Exclusive)

The project is in early development on a new track.
Black List writer Cat Vasko has been hired to work on a feature centered on DC Comics hero Plastic Man.

The project got underway two years ago when Amanda Idoko (The Mayor) was hired to pen the script for what was meant to be a comedic action-adventure based on the character, who was created in 1940s.

Female-Centric universe. Ruining old comic book characters.

Thank God, Hollywood is dying a slow death.

I hate Gender Swapping characters for no god damn reason. Just make a movie about the real plastic man. I won't be seeing this.

Agreed.

Thank God, it's over. All those stupid companies will collapse within years.

Because Hollywood "uses" minorities or different sexes as "tricks" to sell more tickets, not because companies and film producers truly believe in them. There's no sincere and genuine valorization.
I love women, I deeply respect LGTB people and I like all human races. Hollywood just "channels" them on a purely commercial level, covering that as a "cultural revolution", but it's just a fake mis-en-scene.

Create new characters, don't ruin pre-existent characters just for money.

The cool thing about Plastic Man/Eel O'Brien is that the accident that happens to him redeems a bad apple (rather than creates the usual traumatized villain) and this second chance allows him to penetrate the underworld and atone for his crimes by becoming a hero.

In a gender reversal, it's unlikely current Hollywood development trends will allow the female Eel to have been that bad - unless someone else/man caused it - muddying the inherent character opportunities in favor of more preachy-teachy to the choir - and another stale vengeance movie.

I do not think it will even be a superhero movie. I see it as a business woman uses the abilities to juggle being an executive and home life. So there could be a scene with her holding a baby, stirring a pot, getting the mail and petting the dog.

I wouldn't mind a Solo Elastagirl movie following her from the younger age (of flashbacks in the first Incredibles movie). At least she's an established character.

Elastagirl is one of my favorite characters in film, I would love to see a spin off.

I guess I'll be the one to say I never cared about Plastic Man to begin with. He was occasionally funny in Justice League comics, but there's a reason he never really transcended or was featured prominently in other media. I could take or leave this movie, and certainly don't care enough to light the torches and grab the pitchforks. But, as always, I'm hoping for the best, because who doesn't want more good movies?

What the hell is wrong with just making a comedy/action movie about a woman with stretch powers? Plastic Man isn't that well known anymore so it's not like they're getting big name recognition, especially since it wouldn't BE Plastic Man!

Never cared for the character so it's going to be a no thanks from me whether they keep him a man or make him a woman.
