this is a thread about the 4K box-set...pricing is a part of the thread...deal with it...if you feel buyer's remorse for paying a higher price then speak to a professional

If it is eventually sold at 50$ or less then I might consider buying it.

It's not really though is it? The thread is for discussing the product, not the selling of it. Your dribble isn't even relevant to a significant number of readers here as they aren't in the US. If I see a good deal on the price of the item in the UK where I'm based, then I'll post it in the UK deals thread in the UK subforum, where it belongs.

Every non-limited edition release eventually goes down in price. If you wait long enough then yes, it will be less than $50. In the meantime I'll be enjoying watching the series and getting good value for the money I've paid. Plus and under-rated perk of buying on release date is that you know you haven't got someone elses return.

Is ripping the discs a guaranteed way to detect possible playback issues? I'm looking for a faster way than watching each episode from start to finish. I wasn't planning to rewatch the show for a while but I'd like to know if any discs are a dud within the return period.

I'm half way through season 4 on my steelbook set. So far only 1 disc has had playback issues.

S1 Disc 1

of course every release goes down in price...but not this quick...this is not the usual case, especially for a box-set

and again, pricing is a part of the discussion...a lot of people still haven't bought the set yet...

I wonder if HBO regrets releasing it in 4K or a year and a half after the series ended. Seems like most people just don't care about Game of Thrones anymore, this release lost momentum.

It's almost as if none of you guys have ever seen a physical media release before. Star Wars 4K went on 25% off (2 for X) promotion the day it came out for an entire month, and then about a week after that one ended Disney put it on even deeper discount of 40% off (3 for X). Does that mean Star Wars is entirely worthless too?

stop over-reacting and throwing a hissy fit...no one called it 'worthless'

I'm not the one providing a dollar-by-dollar update on pricing that isn't even relevant to a substantial proportion of the posters here.

New releases always go down in price. Even popular 4K releases will often be half price within a matter of months.

You gotta be kidding. A huge swath of these threads amount to no more than hundreds of "Mine is on the way. I should have it by tomorrow" posts.

Aside from the aesthetic appeal of the packaging, the release is dogshite. Dents, scratches, stacked discs, missing discs, playback issues and whatever else you can think of that could go wrong with a very expensive release.

I hope that has something to do with low sales, if in fact, they are low.

...and I hope HBO learns from it.
