VIZIO doesn't make a 48" OLED or a 77" OLED.

No, Hisense does QLED as well as Sony, Sony just calls it Trilluminous Display. I'm not saying OLED does have a better, it's that in some areas LED is better.

MiniLED and MicroLED Displays: Evolution or Revolution? – Webcast
january 2020

Understand why miniLEDs and microLEDs are distinct technologies with different challenges, supply chains, market potential and applications.
The display industry is at a crossroads. Demand from smartphones and TVs, the two largest applications, is mostly saturated. Panel makers are striving to bring new functionality and disruptive performance to differentiate their products, increase their market shares and accelerate replacement cycles.

Many display technologies are emerging. Among them, miniLEDs and microLEDs have generated a lot of excitement over the last three years. There are no commonly accepted definitions and the terms are often used interchangeably, often in a misleading way, sometimes on purpose by companies trying to surf the hype.

This webcast will try to bring some clarity and provide definitions in term of sizes, technologies and applications, as well as supply chain requirements. The presentation will discuss recent progress as well as some remaining technology and supply chain bottlenecks. The status and prospects for each technology for the major consumer applications will be reviewed. The potential benefits and challenges of miniLEDs and microLEDs will be discussed in the context of existing and emerging display technologies such as flexible OLEDs, Quantum Dot Films, inkjet-printed OLEDs, electro-luminescent QDs and dual cell LCDs. Major applications such as smartphones, smartwatches, TVs, augmented reality and automotive will be discussed, as well as tentative adoption roadmaps.

Hisense is also a bunch of Chinese crap, and very few people are going to spend an entire car's worth of money on the 4000nit Sony Z9G.

Did you not see my dimming zone comparison? 720 from the Z9G vs 8,294,400 from the OLED. That's 11,520 times more.

OLED displays are recommended for the optimal Ultra HD Blu-ray experience.

LG Display makes 48", 55", 65" and 77" OLED panels. That's why every OLED from every manufacturer comes in one of these sizes.

Call it what you want, my point was that Hisense makes QLED displays. Lots of people love them, the best bang for the buck anywhere.

Who's recommending OLED for UHD Blu Ray?

Watch an Ultra HD Blu-ray on an OLED next to a QLED. You will notice the OLED is able to replicate the signal much better than the QLED thanks to its self-lit pixels. This is especially noticeable in darker scenes. OLED displays are not as dim as people like you make them out to be.

Also, when you’re buying a display, you want one from a manufacturer you can trust. You don’t want that Chinese crap that Hisense and TCL are.

So these are the same as the HZ series that's available in Europe then? Selling them as "Hollywood grade" is a little bit disingenous as they're used as client monitors, yes, but not bona fide mastering monitors which will usually cost five figures at a minimum. But it's still great that Robert has managed to bring these sets to American shores, I'm surprised he's not charging more for them given that his upmarket clientele probably make that much just getting out of bed in the morning.

How comes no HZ2000 though? that's the creme de la milk

Thank you Geoff!

Just a brief reply to explain some of the differences between Panasonic's mass production consumer grade OLED TVs vs, the ones Panasonic sells to Hollywood film makers and post production houses in the USA.

The Panasonic OLED displays we were just approved to buy direct from Panasonic and now sell to USA consumers are from the inventory supplied to USA film makers and post production houses. These USA only displays have the same HCX processor, but it's tuned to Hollywood color scientists specifications and the OLED panels are hand selected and only the very best OLED modules are used for these displays.

The reason we don't have the HZ2000 is that it takes many months of testing for the color scientists to develop the reports on fixes and enhancements and then for Panasonic engineers to design and implement the upgrades. The FZ1000 and GZ1000 review samples took several round trips from Japan to Hollywood to get these displays approved.

I am hot sure how much of this gets into the mass produced consumer OLED TVs that are sold in the EU and UK.

If all goes as planned we'll begin seeing Hollywood GZ2000s in April 2020. From what I am told the only difference between the GZ1000 and GZ2000 is the heat syncs that give the ability to drive the OLED panel to deliver about an extra 150 nits of peak luminance.

But that's just it, all the spiel about these sets over here was that they were already tuned to "Hollywood colour scientists specifications", and we also know that the Z2000 sets have a custom panel with the added heat sink to provide more luminance. Vincent Teoh's reviews show that the Z2000 models have virtually no image retention compared to the others which is a strange coincidence when it comes to the inclusion of the heat sink.
